Question on Porting Number from Unactivated SIM

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a Kogan SIM starter pack and really like the number I was given. I intend to activate a service with this number. However, having reviewed the prepaid options that Kogan gave, it seems like a better deal for me to jump straight to Catch Connect on their $14.90 90-day prepaid plan:

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not I can just port this number straight from the Kogan SIM starter pack to Catch Connect without purchasing a prepaid plan from Kogan first?

Based on Catch Connect's website on porting phone numbers, I sinmply need to be able to receive an SMS code with the Kogan SIM and then key in this code during the activation process for Catch Connect:

    As long as you activate it you can port straight out whenever you like.

    Why not buy the 90 day Kogan deal for $14.95 and then switch to catch when that is close to finishing?

    If it's a really nice number and someone gave it up, theres a high chance its on all sorts of spammy lists.
