Would like some advice on this.
Bought a Toshiba Satelite C50-B for around $300 after an ozbargain post some years ago.
Never really able to utilise it as the laptop was so slow and forever idle straight out from the box.
Want to make it functional as a backup computer.
Questions:
1. Is it upgradable? Is it worth it or buy a new one?
2. Plan to upgrade RAM from 2Gb to 8 GB using Crucial CT102464BF160B DDR3L-1600 SODIMM 8 GB RAM Memory
and HDD to SSD Crucial MX500 250GB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD, 250, CT250MX500SSD1.
The total cost of parts is around $160 from Amazon. Will arrive at the end of June. Alternatively, Shopping Express for $145 all up.
What do you think?
Thank you in advance for your comments.
Yes.
SSD and 8gb ram makes this a half decent unit.
Source: did it to my parents same pc
Prices for components are pretty high at the moment though. I did it 12 months ago for about $60 (second hand ram)
