Hi, I had previously decided to purchase an LG OLED65cxpta but now thinking about the LG nanocell 65 inch TV. Specifically the 8k 65NANO95TNA . Any views on which is better as the both retail about the same. Thankyou.
Which TV Is Better - LG Nanocell or LG OLED?
Comments
I ve been told basically stay away from any non OLED LG TV, because they use IPS panels which inherently means a crap contrast ratio (but better viewing angle).
That's why Sony uses VA panels for all their best LCD TVs. Says it all really.
I've had a Panasonic IPS and currently an LG OLED. From my experience, in terms of image quality and response time balance, OLED>VA>IPS>TN. I still quite like the image quality and viewing angle of IPS but VA is better. The quality of VA will depend on the manufacturer though, some VA panels have nasty backlight bleed
Best you go to a showroom and check them both out.
I good informed salesman will be able to explain better for youOnce 8k becomes relevant this may be an interesting comparisons, but we are still years away from getting 8k content. 4k is still quite limited.
From the demos I've undertaken in showrooms, oled is superior currently.
Thanks guys, im pretty sure i will stay with the oled. Just waiting for the price to drop below 4k.
LG Oled TVs are absolutely brilliant in terms of Contrast, gaming, hdmi 2.1 for the future and true black colours but they have a chance to have marks permanently burned in the screen like news logos or videogame life bars usually bright things that remains static on the screen while watching or playing video games giving oleds a possibly shorter lifespan. Nano 9 series is equally future proof and great gaming features but an IPS screen. It will have good colours but inferior contrast and black will look like dark grey. The best alternative to oled TVs is the Samsung Q90T or Q95T because it comes closest to Oled screen without the risk of burn in and also has future features like hdmi 2.1 and gaming features. It all boils down to personal situation as to wich pros n cons fit you better.
OLED - every pixel is self lighting. That's a heck a lot of individual illumination.
Nanocell - (from memory) 200 illumination zones.
Right off the bat, you're going to lose a mathematically huge amount of contrast.
