Reminder for those who don't have unlimited international calls to USA& Canada (with boost for eg), they can still do it using Google hangouts.

Free calls to the USA and Canada via your browser or even iOS app sounds like a deal to me!

EDIT: Since some people seem to not know the difference between hangouts vs ZOOM/Whats app/messenger calls etc etc:
Hangouts can DIAL A MOBILE NUMBER with the other end not needing to have the app etc

      Zoom can't make direct calls to a phone number, unless I'm mistaken. However, hangouts works fine with direct mobile calls.

    GOOGLE 2017: People don't talk anymore, everyone texts. I know, let's remove the ability to send/receive SMS via Hangouts.

    GOOGLE 2020: People don't use Hangouts anymore, everyone uses Messenger. I know, let's give free calls to America's Hat and Canada's Pants.

      AGAIN, I'm not aware of a way you can use WhatsApp to call a number of someone without WhatsApp

    I am not sure whats new that this deserves a post, google hangouts has been around for a few years and you can call ANY USA and Canada numbers not just mobile numbers totally free. No text message though.

    I am not sure if they can call you on your google hangout number though so if anyone can confirm I would love to know.

      If you happen to have a Google voice account, you can use hangout to send and receive SMS as well.

        If signed up for Google voice, it has its own app and can be directly used for voice, phone calls (incoming as well), no need for this

            @lancedefrance: You can't get this anymore. Was a thing in US and Canada in late 2000s. The best thing about it was the ability to use different mobile numbers and map it to the google voice number so you have today's mobile number portability feature. They still haven't killed the existing accounts.

          I just said what it is. It is not a deal but a PSA - Public Service Announcement - and it is a good one but not a deal.

          It is like saying you can get cheaper fare using myki Pass if you are travelling daily.

    Make sure you download the hangout dialer app too, got confused on how to do this. Download hangout only and couldnt see the functionality until I installed dialer aswell on the phone

    Been using this service since it was called Google Voice. Back then it even allowed registering a free "+1" VoIP number for life. This number was what showed up when you called someone at the other end or if they called back, which you could then receive over Android or Apple Hangouts Dialer App. Really good and free tool to look for work or talk to clients in the US or Canada.

    Why not get Google Voice? All you need is VPN and someone in US receive a code for you.
