DHL Left $700 Worth Item Unattended

Hi guys

Today I received an item worth $700 from Amazon delivered by DHL.

The problem is it was left unattended and could have been taken by anyone.

I have a question, if the item would have been taken/stolen by a stranger, who is responsible for it?

Amazon, DHL or Me?

  • Amazon would credit it, that's all you need to know.

  • Was it ATL?

    • I give up. What is ATL?

        Authority To Leave

Or Atlanta, but in this context, the first one

With the Covid thing there is this contactless way couriers and even Aussie post are doing things. Not great if something happens to package. Anyway your ok

Things must be OK on jobkeeper to be buying $700 items.

    • Yep, I've obviously been home but I've found couriers have stopped knocking and are just leaving the parcel and it's obviously due to the current situation and people wanting to minimise contact.

      • Mine tend to leave the parcel at the door, then ring the doorbell or yell out PARCEL! really loudly so that I'm aware a parcel has just been delivered, before walking back to their van. For AusPost ones that are trackable, the app also notifies me if the parcel's been delivered and the delivery person did neither of the above.

  • My oculus quest was left at my front door.

Not sure how you even request authority to leave from Amazon. Everything has always been left (which I'm usually fine with)

I had a >$100k purchase just left by the sidewalk on the street.

They did drop of the keys at my work though.

    • Weird flex.

      • My fridge also holds two dozen eggs.

(Oh, I get it now. I actually thought it was understood it was a tractor cause who delivers cars these days?)

        • who delivers cars these days?)

          Porsche for one :P

          • @[Deactivated]: Eh, I've inspected all my cars at dealership before accepting delivery.

@[Deactivated]: Actually basically every dealer. Many do it to move deliveries away from the weekend (busiest time obviously) so they'll deliver the car during the week to the customers work or home.
