Buy One Pint of Beer, Get One Free (When Your Chosen Pub Re-opens) @ CUB

124

Carlton United are offering one free beer for every beer you (pre) purchase getting ready for pubs to reopen. You log on, find your local, choose how many pints you want, pay for them, get vouchers and then CUB will give you the same number of vouchers for free. They are at $1.2m out of an available $2m available so get on it!

Vouchers are valid for 3 years or as long as the pub remains in business. Some states have limits on how many you can buy at a time. ACT pubs are under Regional NSW, search "26" seems to be the best way to filter for 26XX postcodes.

Interesting how they segregated the nation on who can buy what beer. e.g. Western Sydney can only buy VB and Eastern Sydney can only buy Carlton Draught. Oh and lawn and behold, Eastern Sydney pays 20% more for a Carlton than regional Vic!

That's the $12 question…. if they don't re-open, CUB pockets your money…..how generous of them!

    • Good thing all my locals are already open and taking bookings.

      • but are they on the venue list?

        https://loveofyourlocal.com.au/collections/western-australia

I searched Perth & it only returned 7 venues.
Every venue in WA only offer Carlton Dry….not sure that's worth the $5 myself.

        • There are 2 venues that are very accessible for me either after work on Friday, or from home. And Carlton Dry is my go to beer and will set you back $10 pretty much anywhere unless you are at the casino.

    • It's the $200 question for me. 50% off beers for the next 3 years… almost as profitable as holding Afterpay shares!

      • but are any on the list?

        from the last post

I searched "Melbourne" (since none of the pubs within 5kms were found). Interestingly, there's apparently only 51 in greater Melbourne (Deer park to Frankston) and apparently all pints are $12!!!!

Also your profile says you live in Canberra, there are apparently no venues in Canberra, ACT isn't even a choice.

When you search on Canberra you get 3 venues (across the border), where for $10 you get a pint of Great Northern Super Crisp

        • HARMONIE GERMAN CLUB CANBERRA | NARRABUNDAH, NSW 2604

        • NORTH CANBERRA BEAR BAR | KALEEN, NSW 2617

        • CANBERRA SOUTHERN CROSS CLUB | PHILLIP, NSW 2606

        I hope you haven't done you $200

        • I gave instructions on how to find ACT venues in the description.

          • @Mr BoMBAStiG: So how many did you find?

        • All of those locations are actually in the ACT.

@djkelly69: Excuse my confusion that venues that mentioned NSW are actually in the ACT. But again, its 3, three, 1+1+1 venues. Hardly worth bothering unless they're a local.

            • @[Deactivated]: Debacle, statesman hotel, area hotel, Raiders Belconnen, Raiders Weston, Mawson club. They were just the first few results of 8 pages. Like I said, instructions on how to find ACT locations are in the description.

wish it was their other beer products

    Not a bargain.

$6 for a pint of horse piss is not attractive, especially when my local listed on that site does $8 pints of far better quality beer (Coopers Pale and Matilda Bay Ruby Tuesday).

    • It's obviously bad if its worse than Coopers Pale Ale. ;)

  • No guarantee all pubs will re-open. No deal here.

  • Is this a bargain? A charitable donation? Gambling? I'm not sure!

  • Donation to a corporate entity is not a donation.

  • Great Northen in QLD at $10. Pass.

and it's the super crisp, not the drinkable draught.

If you're not just after a free beer and genuinely want to help your local pub or brewery there are better ways.

Buy yourself a gift voucher and redeem it in 12 months time. Helps small business with cash flow now, when they need it most.

You could even shout an essential services worker a beer over at The Good Beer Co.

All this government support, Jobkeeper etc, will eventually need to be paid back. Where will it come from? The taxes we and local businesses pay.

CUBs parent company has paid no corporate tax for five years running?

    • “CUBs parent company has paid no corporate tax for five years running”

      Have they made a profit?

  • $12 for a pint of VB.? No one out my way charges that - Not until this came out…..

$12 for a pint of bat piss? Yeah no thanks, even with the 'free' one

CUB Japanese owned I think. Guess they have local workers..but sad it isn't an Australian company.

I bought 10 vouchers for my local last month. Basically means I pre-purchased 20 pints of carlton dry for $5 each, plus my local had a deal where they throw in a free meal for anyone who purchased 10 or more for supporting them. Considering the pints are usually $9 each and the place has already reopened, I'm pretty stoked with the deal. Saved $80 plus got a free meal by paying in advance.

The only issue is Carlton hasn't sent me the vouchers yet. Even though the venue has reopened. Been advised they expect to send them out mid-June

  • These are supposed to be redeemable now. Has anyone had success redeeming? The CUB web application for redeeming the vouchers seems completely broken.
