  • Good deal, but I wish you didn't need facebook :(

Any conditions like can not use on Saturday after 5?

  • +7

    There's a 'hidden' cost…

    "Request for Permission
Hoyts Red Hot Movies is requesting permission to do the following:

    Access my basic information
Includes name, profile picture, gender, networks, user ID, list of friends, and any other information I've made public.
    Access my profile information
Likes, Music, TV, Movies, Books, Quotes and About Me"

use the facebook account that you used to befriend lil kids

      • +1

lol i upvoted. Here, I'll deflect some of the heat.

        • +1

          lol thanks mate :)

    • +1

So add, buy the cheaper tickets and then remove.

    • "I've made public" being the key bit. make your account totally private. everyone should have it that way anyway IMO

Screw that. If they want my information they can bloody well give me the tickets for free.

    • Just create a new hotmail account and register a new facebook page to it. Use your real name (in case you win something) but do not store any personal details on the new page except maybe a photo of your dog so they think its a real account.

You can use the new account to register for all the dodgy facebook competitions, likes and freebies, its soooo bloody easy. Seriously.

  • I really really hate the way these companies are using facebook for all these offers, instead of something that is accessible for everyone who have reasons not to be on the stupid site.

    • +1

Why not just create an empty account and befriend nobody and do not post any personal details on it? Use it simply to get offers and nothing else. Then you aren't forced to use facebook except to get free/discounted stuff.

I don't trust it at all.. Anyone can impersonate Hoyts.

    • +4

Does browsing OzBargain with your tin foil hat on help?

  • +6

sfc, if kids are smart enough to have a facebook for friends and a facebook for family, youd think some people here would be savvy enough to have a facebook account for internet deals, but that would be too logical wouldnt it?

  • Good deal, and it's 10 tickets maximum per transaction, not per person

  • +4

Just remember they expire by 11th Nov I think…don't go overboard!

  • Don't worry about the personal info. You can like Hoyts and get the tickets. and once the tickets are emailed. Just unlike them again

    • +2

By that stage, they already have your information. You want to use a dummy account.

  • +1

Good deal although the expiry date of these vouchers was just a little bit over 1 month.
So don't buy too much if you can't use them.

  • +4

What sort of joy do companies like these get from people that 'like' them on Facebook? Not that any one really likes them in a real sense, it's just amatter of hitting a key that says 'like' on it. Just total BS.

    • +2

They get free advertising on a site that many people visit 10+ times a day. That's pretty joyful for companies like these.

    • +2

Market research — i.e. they get access to your personal information (assuming you're using your real FB account).

    • +2

HEY EVENT!!! I HAVE 1345 MORE LIKES THAN YOU!

  • +1

Click 'Red Hot Movie Tickets' on the left hand under their profile pic.

can't someone just share the link to purchase them? it must be hoyts link, not thru facebook,is it not? or is it personally tailored to individual?

    • Directly through their facebook page, you don't get redirected to a secure payment page.

  • +1

$8.50 for a movie ticket. Wow, turn back the clock!

  • +2

Hmm, they want me to purchase through an unsecured facebook connection, giving out my cc details in the form. I think not.
Also just found out the $10 joining fee for the hoyts membership thing is actually a yearly fee. Can't access my points till I give them more money. Lame.

    • yeah, Hoyts reward system is horrible compared to the simple Cinebuzz.

IMO, Hoyts have better seats o.0

try https://7dollarmovies.hoyts.com.au/facebook/Home.aspx, click "allow permissions" this will take you back to facebook, the enter the page again to start ordering. BTW, the site says 7dollarmovies, but we are paying $8.5 LOL.

    Cheers for this.

Go to a local Hoyts every couple of weeks, saw Horrible Bosses during the week with only 6 other people in the cinema. Love it!

  • bought a couple. thanks.

  • Used my fake account to get some tickets :D

  • umm..i feel unsafe provide them my cc# thru facebook

    • See eyao70's comment above.

    • Sillygal by name, sillygal by nature.

  • Thanks! +rep.

  • For those who don't want to use facebook for this, most Hoyts ticket counters (well Northland in VIC anyway) sell 10 ticket-pack for $100, usable anytime. It's not advertised but you have to ask the people at the counter.

PS: Yes it's not $8.50 but still, I would prefer that to allowing some app on facebook to read all my information.

    • Melbourne Central Hoyts wanted more than $100 for a 10 pack last time I asked.

  • YOUR SECURITY: This purchase is protected using SSL encryption. You do not see the padlock in the address bar as our voucher site is framed within Facebook. Hoyts guarantee that we use the highest levels of security and do not store your credit card details.

LOL: my internet alert radar goes off when I see such crap statements in dodgy emails from the ATO or a bank.

How can this procedure ever pass the scrutiny of the credit card providers? There are strict conditions for merchants to abide by when accepting credit card details on the internet.

Putting in such a statement doesn't cut it.

I un-Liked Hoyts once I started down this road….they don't need to have access to my friends list..maybe my movie likes but that should be it.

  • hi i missed the deal..is it possible that anyone could phoocopy theirs and send it to my email?? [email protected]

    • They contain unique barcodes. You can only use each ticket once.
