We have an older house. timber and has been lifted and bricked in underneath. Have a problem with tree roots that have gone under house causing the brick wall to separate on the corner. and the glass entry door to crack. I had the local council out and have to get two quotes to try and get them to fix it. problem is we have rung several builders but have not been able to get them to quote. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a good builder and one that will give us a quote any recommendations would be gratefully received, as this has been dragging on for months

Talk to a few.
Id be probably looking for people who specialise in remidation works. Builder who specialise in new builds / extensions - probably wont touch such a job - or will quote high to cover risk.
Ask for references and check them and if possible their work.
Run a QBCC licence check. Make sure nothing major comes up,
