  • Looks alright to me. I am a data hoarder though so I would swap out the QVO ssd with an m.2 nvme drive, maybe 2tb, and forget about the 2tb barracuda. I'd recommend shucking an expansion drive for the internal.

What monitor do you plan on getting? best to make sure the gpu matches. My preference for gpu is nvidia as they've got the edge and I feel that future features will be better supported with their products.

    • But do they have the edge?

    • I plan on getting a 1440p 144hz curved eventually with free sync. The Barracuda is just for bulk storage of photos etc.

      • The 5700xt may not be able to push the latest games to 144hz at max settings and would be worse for ultrawides.

I do still recommend getting a larger HDD and try to avoid SMR drives and make sure to do proper backups. You should try getting either the 860 evo or mx500, the qvo and bx aren't as good and supposedly have shorter lives.

  • the main ssd to a m2 nvme drive would probably be the most cost effcient change.

    • I was thinking about the M.2 but after watching some videos I chose the 860 because the -10 sec loading time isn't enough to justify, but I do plan on getting M.2 eventually. The ssd is mainly for RUST and long loading time games.

      • For me windows 10 loading time is shorter than 10sec from off to login windows. If you sleep the computer to wake it is like instant, the longest time is to put your password in to login.

  • DO NOT! Get the "MSI MPG X570 Pro Carbon Wifi" its VRM is absolute trash! Check out hardware unboxed on X570 motherboard VRM temps. Also swap the QVO for a M.2 NVMe 500Gb/1Tb drive.

FYI B550 Boards are coming out soon, I believe 2-4 weeks. If you can use a current GPU for a while you should wait for the new cards coming this year "sometime" the performance jump looks to be huge and priced much cheaper.

    • I cannot find the video, the only one I can see is the MSI MPG Gaming Edge video. Sorry just read what you said, are all the VRM temps bad for MSI? And if so are there ways to improve these temps?

Go to time 5:15 show X570 board VRM temps. Good MSI boards are Unify, ACE and the new Tomahawk board.

        • Cheers have ordered board but if it causes me any grief, will not hesitate to return and pickup a B550 or Gigabyte, Asus X570

  • Drop it to a B450 or wait for B550 and drop the PSU to 650W and put some more into the GPU

Also you haven't stated what your use case is for this PC

If I was gaming, I would drop the 3700X to a 3600 or 3600X and put that into GPU too

Not sure what your budget is but if you could get a 2070 Super or 2080/Super with your savings that would be awesome.

Also with 2TB HDD - you dont really need a 1TB SSD so drop that to 500GB and again, put savings into the GPU

I'd also get a PSU from a better brand, so a Seasonic or EVGA or something.

    • It will be used for Games such as Rust, Tarkov, Pubg etc
