Are you sure you got free shipping with that lawnmower? Only books, music and DVDs were covered under the free Super Saver Delivery promo. For most other items (that are are eligible for shipping to Australia), I believe amazon.co.uk charges a flat rate of GBP 22.58 — which is remarkably cheap for bulky shipments like your lawnmower (and most recently for me, a rowing machine which is even bulkier!). :)

Yeah, you're right.. Having looked back at the invoice, it just looked like free shipping cause the VAT was removed, and subsequently the price was different from that advertised.

Given the state of the UK economy and the relevant strength of our local economy I wouldn't be surprised if this offer is still around a year from now. It's also worth comparing prices between Amazon UK and Amazon France especially if you're looking at things that don't qualify for free shipping such as Lego. Amazon France generally have lower shipping costs compared to UK
That's actually pretty surprising. My perception of things costed in Euros has been that they are, invariably more expensive as a lot of places just take the USD price and stick EUR in front of it instead.

They are doing the extensions in ever shorter jumps. last was 1.5 months. This was 1 month and before was like 3 or 6 months or something.
Yep, it makes me think they may stop it for Christmas - so they don't have to pay for shipping for lots of presents to Oz.
I hope it will be extended, I imagine the Australian market is important to them considering the lack of price competitiveness here. In the UK Amazon has a lot of competition: Zavvi, The Hut, HMV, Bee, Tesco Entertainment, Sainsburys, Play etc etc.

Just bumping this up as a reminder that the Super Saver Free Delivery to AU/NZ offer ends today (31 Oct). They may extend the offer of course, but put your orders in if you're worried :)

The Amazon website still hasn't been updated - the Super Saver delivery info page still says "until 31st October 2011", however if you put more than £25 of stuff in the basket and select Super Saver as the delivery method, shipping is still free (for now anyway).
Yeah. It's a mite annoying. :) I think I'd rather have it formalised. :)

AUD is now 0.633 GBP and 0.998 USD, and there might be a possibility dropping further.
The only reason Amazon is doing free shipping is to attract overseas buyers. If AUD drops, buying from overseas is no longer as attractive (although I'm sure still heaps cheaper than buying local for some items), and Amazon no longer wants to provide the incentive…
Free shipping ends on the 15.1.12 at this stage for anyone who wants to put in orders, likely to be ocntinued based on the past though.
