Legit, initially I wanted windows hello webcams(Logitech BRIO), then later a decent webcam, and then finally giving up and being fine with the base kind of webcam (logitech c270) but they're all sold out or priced more than I'd like to pay for :/
Is getting a webcam a lost cause right now cause of iso?
or perhaps there's a gem of a webcam somewhere that isn't a flaky as it looks?

Stock of webcams has bounced back in recent weeks. See Mwave's inventory for a start; there are 10 different models in stock on that first page of results.
PC Case Gear has most entry-level webcams in stock as well.
Quite a lot around. It really depends on where you are looking for them and if you are willing to purchase from overseas too. You can grab a C270 from Taiwan for $68 on ebay or you can grab it for as low as $30 from Gumtree if you are willing to go secondhand.
There are quite a few available and not overpriced either and that's just for the Logitech C270…
If you have a DSLR or some point and shoot cameras they can be used for a webcam with some software.
Just use your phone. Surprisingly effective.
Very difficult to find. You might be better off trying one of the apps that lets you use your phone as a webcam (as long as your computer and phone are on the same wifi.)
