Dumb question.
I have a dell laptop with one hdmi only, and usb3 only,I need a second monitor plugged in.
What’s the recommendation for a dock etc to plug into usb3 to then allow hdmi to be plugged in, budget of $300
Thank you

Old fat style plug with blue colour, so think is usb3. Laptop is 4 years old or so
Right so USB-A. Can't go wrong with the offical Dell one for $200 then: https://www.amazon.com.au/DELL-D3100-USB-UHD-DOCKINGSTATION/…
Thanks, will grab it
When you say USB3 do you mean USB-C? If so, this dock from any JB Hifi is recommended and works well.

You'll need suitable cables. So likely:-
1) HDMI (into dock) to HDMI (into monitor #1)
2a) MiniDP (into dock) to HDMI (into monitor #2)
or
2b) MiniDP (into dock) to DisplayPort (into monitor #2)
Note: Some smaller laptops are unable to push dual screens so maintain packaging to return if that's the case.
