Original Coupon Deal

Previous deal for $811

Slightly lower than this deal but this one should be in stock. Not the historical lowest price but starting to come down a bit. Well reviewed 1440p 144Hz IPS panel, generally considered one of the best. I almost pulled the trigger but went ultrawide at the last minute since I don't play FPS games.

Thanks to dealbot for original coupon deal.

Edit: some people have been discussing this in the coupon's thread, didn't see. eBay suggested this to me because of my browsing history so I posted quickly…

  • I almost pulled the trigger but went ultrawide at the last minute since I don't play FPS games.

    Which ultrawide did you get?

    • Found a second-hand Acer XR341CK on Gumtree for $600 shipped interstate, couldn't pass it up.

  • +1

    There’s currently 33 available.

  • +2

Not a bad price considering pre-rona it was $690ish (all time low of $630)
    Note that G-Sync compatible != G-Sync

    • I've only got an nvidia card. What does it mean

      • AFAIK, G-Sync compatible means it's not officially supported by NVIDIA, but does meet their standards and thus you can turn the G-Sync option on.

The actual G-Sync monitors have a physical G-Sync module installed.

        • +1

is there an actual difference in performance?

        • +2

Close, but not quite correct. G-Sync compatible monitors are officially certified monitors that are essentially Freesync (Displayport VRR) monitors, so they don't use the hardware module. Other Freesync monitors will probably work, but haven't been certified by Nvidia.

Hardware G-Sync monitors are starting to be deprecated as well. There are even plans to add G-Sync compatible support to hardware G-Sync monitors.

  • Are ultrawide monitors bad for single player fps?

    • Mine is 75Hz so definitely a slower response for those trigger-sensitive games, but I'll happily take the trade-off for both immersion in less fast-paced games and productivity.

      • +2

It's possible to get 144hz ultrawide monitors, so it doesn't HAVE to be a trade off between ultrawide and refresh rate - but you trade off cost instead. E.g. the following are 144hz 3440x1440 monitors:

        • LG 34GK950F-B (IPS)
        • MSI Optix MPG341CQR (VA)
        • AOC CU34G2X (VA)

Personally I'm hoping for a high refresh rate, ultrawide, colour-accurate, true HDR monitor… But I would probably need to sell my unicorn and collection of flying pigs to afford one.

Actually what I'd love to see is something like Hisense's "dual cell" tech come to monitors, but they don't seem to do monitors and probably won't license the tech.

        • +1

That AOC model seems like great value at $889 even though it's only 300 nits. Is AOC any good?

          • @locknuts: I honestly couldn't tell you, beyond the same sort of Google searches you'd be doing yourself, sorry.

            • @tophorus: That's cool. Thanks for making me aware of that monitor anyway!

          • @locknuts: the aoc agon monitor I have is good!

I have this monitor, got lucky and someone was selling it on gumtree for $400 for the 32".

I am 99% happy with this monitor, one of the best monitors I've had!!!!

The only down fall is the screen burn

    • +2

I don’t think this model comes in 32”. I think you’re confusing it with the 32gk850 which is about $200 cheaper on sale.

      • -5

Oh you're prob right. They all look the same

  • +5

based on these comments, dont buy this just go to Gumtree lol

    • Hahaha

  • Have this monitor and it's great once setup right. Recommend! I have a second monitor but considering whether I should upgrade to this as my second monitor also…

  • Do I have this? No
    Do I need this? No
    Do I buy this? Yes

    • +4

      Who are you?

  • +1

These should start coming in stock everywhere after the latest import from LG - hopefully lowers pricing further.
LG monitor shipments were scheduled to nearly all retailers over the last few days

    • This is great news! Would you know if this is for all LG monitors? Want to buy the 27UL850 but difficult to get at the moment..

  • I have this monitor, it's good except for the USB passthrough hub. It shows in windows as not working and I can't upgrade firmware because of it. It's a known issue.

    • Works fine for me.

  • Just bought this. Coming mon. Can't wait!

  • Does it make a big difference for FPS game? I have an IPS 4K monitor at the moment.

    • +1

High refresh rate is so much better than 4K for FPS gaming. 1440p is the sweet spot at the moment.

  • -1

Good price. Can also consider the Lenovo Legion Y27gq-20 27-inch WLED G-SYNC™ Gaming Monitor for $800.

    • +3

Note: That's the TN panel version lenovo, not IPS

      • Thanks for pointing that out! Always a learning process.
