Hi, I am looking for recommendations for a steam mop to clean the tiles in my apartment. They are light coloured, matt tiles and get grubby pretty quickly. A mop and bucket doesn't work well because I have too much furniture in the room so I need something a bit more precise.
Steam Mop for Tiles
Comments
Friend of mine bought a HiZero (https://www.hizero.com/), and he raves about it. I would be tempted if it wasn’t $800!!
The $40 kmart steam-mop is surprisingly good. I bought it to try out before buying a more expensive steam mop but it honestly does a really decent job and I haven't found the need to upgrde. Perfect for tiles in an apartment I'd say.
Second this… I have one and it does the job wonderfully until now.
Thirded, we've got it and it does the job fine on our vinyl planks / tiles.
Whatever steam mop you get I recommend filling it demineralised water. We got a cheaper steam mop from Godfreys a long time ago and it clogged up really quickly when we used tap water. It was well within the 12 month warranty period so we thankfully got our money back.
We then got a more expensive steam mop at one of those home shows and have used demineralised water ever since. It says that you can use regular tap water but we would rather spend the few dollars on 5 litres of demineralised water than a few hundred dollars on another steam mop. You really don't use that much water each time and our steam mop has been great for maybe 5 years now. It could just be our tap water is particularly bad though. There could be other solutions too that I'm not aware of but after switching our water we haven't looked back.
Rag. Hands and knees. Shouldn't be too much floor.
I got a 10 in 1 from Kogan, the cheapest I've seen it get to was about $59. I've only discovered the garment steamer attachment recently and it's been a godsend to clean bubs soft toys and sofas. The floor attachment is pretty good as well
I recently purchased the Vax vx22 and I love it so far. This model has the option to use a floor cleaning detergent which I liked the idea of because we have 4 dog's and you can get one specifically for pet odour. The detergent isn't exactly cheap but you only use 50ml at a time and that lasts quite a while. You also decide how much detergent is released with a dial on the front.
My sister purchased the model with steam only and she said it is still really good but the pads were starting to smell even though they were washed.
It wasn't too expensive but it was hard to get because they were sold out everywhere but managed to find one at Harvey Norman and paid $149. Good guys had it advertised cheaper but no stock anywhere.Be careful using steam mop on tiles
The heat can make the tiles pop off
This is good value for money https://www.godfreys.com.au/hoover-dual-steam-plus-3631
Only issue is the water tank is a tad small.
