$1 Final Value Fees on The Next 5 Items You List and Sell @ eBay AU

160

Got it on two of my accounts yesterday morning, including one that I use to sell with all the time, so check your emails.

Ebay seem to be using unique codes in their URLs now, so I can't link to it directly, but the first part is

  • Finally got it last night.

    I just sell on Facebook… no fees…

    • +5

Also far more time wasters :(

      • +3

The worst for me is Gumtree because people can hide their identities and make ridiculously low offers. I have had good experience with Facebook every now and then but Ebay get's the most views and you don't have to worry about time wasters. I don't list anything on Gumtree anymore.

        • +1

Nah, that's when you agree to take the lowball and say "be at this address in 60min or no deal"

          But it's not your address.

Just make sure you don't put your contact details on gumtree either, only gumtree messaging. Be prepared to lose your account, but it'll be fun.

        • +1

Agree. Gumtree is full of trash who don't read the description and ask stupid questions.

Much prefer to wait for these ebay deals and have (generally) hassle free sales

    • How much scrutiny is there by buyers on FB?
I don't use my FB account. Never really did. Closed it more than 5 years ago. Will it impact sellability to re-open and sell stuff?
On the other hand, I have 100% feedback as an ebay seller and near 800 feedback.

      • +2

You are not losing much by not using Facebook. I have made some sales on Facebook but then you will have a lot of guys making low offers or they will agree on a price but wouldn't show up on the day of pickup, or worst they show up but then negotiate further and explain why they need the item but can't afford it.. blah blah.. Ebay is mostly straightforward, if someone wants it, they pay it there and then, with only drawback being Ebay and Paypal fee. I usually list on item on Facebook and Ebay both however I more likely to negotiate a bit on Facebook because there is no fee associated.

        • +1

          really?
I genuinely thought only people from where I used to live DO THAT.
if people are actually the same all around the world, boi, let me tell you

selling on facebook is the most frustrating thing but at the same time it can be very rewarding if you find the right people :)

but its like, I used to list shoes , i still sell alot of shoes, but- i would list size US11
people would contact me with the stupidest questions like:
"Do you also have size 6? c:"…
"sure let me check my stock" -_- ???

Its like the hatched out of their egg prematurely.

@The Milk Man: I have listed a few pairs of shoes on Facebook lately and I am US 11 too :) and when I list an ad for shoes, I mention "for size comparison, I am US 11 in Nike, US 10 in converse and 9H in RMs", which I think gives them enough to compare and then I have had guys come to try it and then say "sorry these don't fit" and I ask, "oh what size are you" and they say "US 9 in Nike" and I am like WTF, did you not read the ad!!!!!

I listed headphones once and said "no bluetooth" in the ad. The guy came, spent 10-15 mins playing with it and said the headphones are faulty and I asked what's the fault and he said "bluetooth doesn't work".

I then realised that doesn't matter what I put in the ads, most of the people don't bother reading it.

Once I guy bought a jump starter from me. Went to his place, started his car and then started calling me non stop, saying he doesn't want it anymore and wanted the money back, because after he started his car, he had no use for it… Exactly the reason, I sold it cheap after I started my car!! haha..

            • @ozioziozi: Hahaha the jumpstarter… Should've told him to sell it on FACEBOOK!

I once bought a brand new iPhone from the US and it turned out to be network locked , right? Didn't feel like dealing with that, so figured, i'd sell it. Listed - I WROTE IT REQUIRED NETWORK UNLOCK PROCESS
it can cost anywhere from $1 to $100 , I would give them the IMEI and all the details
this one guy comes around all hyped that im selling it cheap , buys it, dude, the guy been threatening me for months now - he doesn't want it. I asked - did you actually READ the AD?
"I DOESN'T MATTER" , I told him I am not a business and I don't NEED to take it back after he 'USED' it.

oh hell, I once had this one girl from like the other side of the country insisting I save this one luggage for her. "LUXURY LUGGAGE" , she really liked it. She said she'll eventually come around to pick it up.
Week goes by, 2nd week, I check on her, "I will" okay if you say (I did list it for high and didn't have alot of messages cuz who pays alot for luggages nowadays…besides me anyways) another week, 2, been over a month, im like "okay listen" and she was like 'okay okay i come this week'
bruh she came from the other side of the country to get the damn luggage

              BUT FACEBOOK HAS TREASURES!

I bought my 1080gtx/144hz laptop (ROG Zephyrus GX501) from a facebook ad , brand new condition , barely touched, for $1,250
Needed to drive for 3 hours each direction, but boy, was it worth it.

          • @The Milk Man: It's everywhere. I don't bother being polite anymore. They don't deserve it. So long as you dont message back and forth too much, gumtree doesn't seem to let them leave a rating for you as a seller.

            • @justtoreply: I just want to get rid of the things I bought impulsively, why would they go out of their way to make it difficult on me tho :(

              Lol, I feel you.
Never used gumtree, annoying platform tmo :(

      • On eBay, people can only leave feedback if they buy from you.

On Facebook, it's much more open. My wife had her marketplace account deactivated because some guy got all hurt when someone else beat him to something my wife was selling. He made some kind of complaint and got her account locked. What kind of rubbish setup is that?

    • +1

Yes same. Been using it for a month and it's great. Items sell quicker than eBay and in most cases at higher prices

      • -2

You can also check out info on the buyer/seller a bit more easily than on ebay…

        • +1

Can't think of the last time I used eBay since they cancelled their $1 weekend offers on all of my accounts. Facebook does have time wasters - including the customary "Is this still available" hit and run question and plenty of lowballers, but pretty good experience overall and most importantly, zero fees.

eBay can be open to abuse especially when it comes to 3 or 4 digit items. The buyer's side is always taken when making a (sometimes fraudulant) claim against PayPal. No matter how safely the item is posted - registered post, express, insured - there can and always will be an excuse (ie. item not working, dead pixels, not as described, etc etc).

          • @hexapling: OoOoO That's a reason i'm afraid to sell one of my coats! :(
Just, don't need to get bamboozled out of $$$$

          • @hexapling: I have sold literally hundreds of 4 digit items on eBay. Never been left without the money or had any issues. I've had some buyers attempt to do borderline fraud things but eBay/PayPal always took my side (or took both sides and everyone got their money/item)

What you're saying is just not true.

Can also check by going to: https://www.ebay.com.au/sl/sell#promotions

Not offered to me though. :'(

  • Thanks op got a list 10 items for free no fvf or fees.

  • +2

Finally got it. Usually these only target my non-selling account.

Still pine for a market that just charges a 'fair' fee all the time instead of this bouncing between depressively exhorbitant fees and occasional extremely low fees.

  • Does this apply to items that I already have listed but not sold? Or do I need to remove and re list them?

  • Got it on two accounts. I had to put my mobile browser into desktop view for the banner to appear in my selling section.

  • +1

seller not allow to leave negative feedbacks on scam buyers, only buyer allows to leave negative feedback to seller
    hence everyone is 100% positive
and you cannot stop new created account scammer to buy from you either.

  • Hey, I clicked on the promo, accepted it and it appears in my promotions page but when I list an item it doesn't decrease the 5 listings, so seems for some reason it allowed me to select the offer, post a listing but I'm sure Ill get stung for the final value fee. It even says Ive already accepted the offer if I try to do it again. Anyone noticing this?
