This one is the combo which comes with a carrying case and the tripod attachment

  • Does anyone have one of these / experience with it?

Any comments about how it performs?

    • Had one, returned it. It is a nice gadget but honestly speaking it takes too long to set up and is too clunky. I now have a Xiaomi FIMI, turn it on and off i go.

      • Where did you buy the FIMI from?

        • TobysDeals. You can get the DJI Osmo Pocket if you want 4k 60fps. To me 1080p was plenty. Wasn't using mine for videography sessions or anything like that. Yes they both suck at low light but so does my phone.

    • Yes my first gimbal and I love it especially the active track, ease of Bluetooth connection and all round solid build.

Performs really well and easy to use.

    • clunky, making you want to use it less. otherwise, it's a great performance gadget.

  • Hmm…in what way does it take too long to setup? Would this Zhiyun be any better?

    • Here are the steps, after you've already calibrated it with the gimbal.
      - Take the cover off your phone, mine did not balance right with it on.
      - There is still some tinkering to balance it on the gimbal.
      - Start the DJI app, make sure it connects to the gimbal.

To me, that's too long and too fiddly.
My Xiaomi FIMI is pretty much power on, wait 3 seconds to boot, press record. I would assume it would be the same for the DJI Osmo Pocket.

  • Thanks for sharing. Taking the cover off the phone and having to go through an app??? are deal breakers…. is this common for phone gimbals?

    • I don't know. My Pixel 2 just wouldn't balance with the cover on. Your phone needs to balance perfectly on the gimbal before you turn it on, and I mean perfectly level. I spent a good weekend trying to like it but it was just too much mucking around. That Zhiyun link is for a selfie stick so different product.

  • Was about to order one but realised it won't work properly with the s20 ultra :(

    • For what reason? Because it's Android or ?

      • Well I should have updated afterwards.

It seems some people are complaining that it weighs too much and it doesn't work properly, it is 10g heavier then the official limit, and thats with no case.

But other people seem to say it works fine, so i'm unsure what to do.

  • I have one of these and I’ve used it extensively overseas and doing some every now and then videos. I’m pairing it up with an iPhone pro with a case on (chunky one too)

The iOS version works way better than android for those out there. DJI seems to work better on iOS devices

It is not clunky to setup it anyway for me. I connect the phone to the gimbal and turn it on. The gimbal balances it for me 9/10 times it’s perfect. On average I use the it about 3 times a week for about 30min each time. I use the tripod attachment to give it extra reach as well.

The only issue I have every now and then is the Bluetooth doesn’t auto connect automatically. Eg. Place phone on gimbal (phone still in screen saver). Press power on the gimbal which automatically wakes up the phone. Open the DJI app and it should auto detect and pair. On average it doesn’t connect for me 1/10 times. However a new firmware has released about 1 week ago. Not sure if this has improved it

I also have the zhiyun smooth 3 I think and that was painful to balance each time I want to use it.

    • Was it worth the hassle in terms of video stability? Also do you need to turn off the phones in built OIS?

      • Agreed with the BT connection sometimes but most of the time it connect super easily and quickly.

Video stability was awesome if not better or on par with go pro hero black 7 that i have.

      • yea so much better walking around with it, smooth. you have to learn how to move it around with it though. Phone OIS only great if you're only standing and panning around.
