Chocolate Lovers High Tea for 2 @ The Blue, Woolloomooloo Wharf $85 (Valued at $110)

44

Chocolate High Tea at The Blue Sydney in Woolloomooloo makes a chic, decadent and all-around special afternoon.

First, there’s the venue. This super-stylish boutique hotel is on the beautiful foreshores of the ultra-modern Woolloomooloo Bay. Then, there are the delicious indulgences that fill the event. The tiered service includes a selection of petit macaroons by Lindt, which stand out as somehow rich and light at the same time. You’ll also receive chocolate, plain and buttermilk scones which you can top with fruit preserves or smooth Chantily cream. And to balance the sweetness, you’ll be served a seasonal assortment of savoury sandwiches.

To drink, you can warm your bones with your favourite Twinings tea, which will be served alongside Santa Vittoria mineral water and, to top it off, a flute of Moet & Chandon. YUM!

The venue is the first thing you spruik? has a shamwow moment

    Still very pricey for tea..

    • +5

It's not just tea. You get about $10-20 of chocolatey snacks, some overpriced Italian water and some overpriced sparkling wine each too.
Still definitely not a bargain and definitely not a good first impresion of Lime&Tonic for me.

Agree, regardless it's a high tea, klingon's tea or whatever. It's consumables
We splash $85 bucks for the thing that turns to a sh1t next morning? Where is the bargain then????

I don't mind to spend hundreds $$$ for another ps5, SGS3 or Iphone 7 1/2, at least I can use them like every time /any day, and re sell them if I have to. But you can't put your own left overs on ebay, I dare you :P

So as near as I can tell:

    • some macaroons (from Lindt)
    • 3 scones with jam and cream
    • some sandwiches
    • a cup (pot?) of tea (Twinings - same stuff as Coles?)
    • carbonated water
    • a glass of champers

$85 (down from $110; I assume per person)

I'm trying to figure out what, exactly, makes up the $85 here to make it a bargain. If someone can point it out I'll revoke my neg.

      facepalm

Guys, all you people bagging this deal do realise that this is High Tea for 2 people in a 5 star hotel right? That too at $42.50 each.

For those that don't know what High Tea is, I suggest a quick google to better inform yourselves.

Yes, essentially you may think of it as just fancy arse tea and cake, but it's about the whole experience and tradition.

Yes, it's not everyone's cup of tea (sorry couldn't resist) but is a nice treat/occasional splurge with someone special.

As for the neggers, well can you point to somewhere offering a comparable high tea service? In Sydney some of my faves are The Victoria Room Darlinghurst ($65 per head for the champagne option) and Sir Stamford Circular Quay ($58 for the champagne option), so $42.50 each sounds pretty damn good.

I've been to the bars and restaurants at Blue on a number of occassions and rate them - haven't had high tea yet but will now thanks to this deal.

Lastly, sorry Disco panda, this wasn't directed just at you, but yours seemed the most relevant to reply to.

That's fine. :) I asked for reasons and you provided. I'll not + it but I'll nuke the neg.

That's fair. If you're in Sydney, then finances permitting give this a go. I rate the venue pretty highly and just looked up and saw SMH named it bar of the year and Conde Nast classed it as one of the top 10 bars in the world - pretty impressive accolades.

For those that don't know what High Tea is

that's why we vote… you think it's good value, others don't… democracy at work…

        • Fair enough, but just to be clear, I think it's good value for what it is ie High Tea, but obviously not for the sum of its individual components which as I pointed out below can be done cheaply just like anything else you do yourself. Btw I didn't neg you.

"can you point to somewhere offering a comparable high tea service?"

I dunno if there are more like this one but fortunately so many people still have a brain and they know the value of money!

"I dunno if there are more like this one"

I did point out the 2 popular ones in Sydney? I can at least think of 10 more here and of those that provide the champagne option, they are all more expensive.

Of course you can do this on the cheap: boil a flask at home, grab twinings and scones from coles, munch sandwiches from 7/11, macroons from lindt and moet from dan's, rock up to anywhere on the foreshore with a rug and have a picnic, but that's besides the point isn't it? The whole idea of going to High Tea is participating in a schmancy experience - something to do once in a while as a fancy treat with someone special - wouldn't quite call them brainless and without regard to the value of $$.

Way overpriced, not even remotely a bargain…

  • +4

    drinks, $5
    sweets, $8
nice view with lovely atmosphere, priceles….on second thought, $97!

  • This seems more like an advertising.

  • $85 for two so $42 per head…

  • +5

Eight courses and six beers for $50 at the Rooty Hill RSL sounds more my speed: belch: even though it is no doubt heavily subsidised by pokie addicts. Go pokie addicts- you good things!

  • agreeded with antz, it doesnt matter how much sugary products they give you with your tea… its still very expensive!?

  • High teas are what elderly matrons do in agatha christie novels.

  • just cant afford for 2 teas and snacks @ 85,
it is just like selling a Porsche at 80% RRP, maybe a bargain for some, but not affordable for most of us.

  • Ozbargainers are cheapskates. We only eat Maccas.

  • 42.50 pp for high tea IS a bargain. This ain't just a macca's apple pie, soft serve and a cup of tea….
There are plenty of "deals" on here I don't rate BUT I don't race into them and neg them on MY perceived value.
This site would suck if it was all about a narrow view of goods and services that appeal to tight asses only, I love the variety of goods and services posted here.

    • Are you kidding, aren't you??
Let the variety of goods go through OzBargain as well as let people here give the vote they feel more appropriate.
So what is your perception for giving a plus to this gold tea?

      • This gold tea is for the higher class people.

        • Then this deal is in the wrong place because IF you're high class person, you won't be looking for a cheap deal! lol

        • That is why I said Ozbargainers are cheapskates and only eat Maccas. LOL
