Streets Mini Calippo 10 Packs: 3 for $9.99 Save from $7.98 @ Woolies

70

Just got the Woolies catalogue in the mail and there are several things I'm gonna grab in the morning:

Streets Calippo icy poles - 3 for $9.99 (Save $7.98)
Banana Boat 400g pump sunscreens - $9.69 (Save $9.70)
Cheezels 110g $0.95 (Save $0.95)

These are some sweet deals - I'm sure there will be a bigger thread with the top 20/25 but some of these gems don't always make the cut…

Calippo icy poles are made in China.
We're now importing sugar water from China that is sold to us by Unilever - a British-Dutch multinational corporation.

    • I didn't realise that - seems crazy if that is the case…
How can it be cheaper to import sugar water than make it here???

Just checked the last packet of Calippos I have in my freezer - you are 100% correct, made in China. I am surprised and somewhat disappointed.

They still taste good but I always worry about the health standards the factories there are following in relation to food - I am sure many are fine, but some are not…

      • read The Age article I posted a link to above from 2003. Supposedly it is 40% cheaper even after refrigerated
shipping is factored in. I hope they carbon offset all that!

My favourite Australian Owned and Australian Owned ice confectionary is the Weis Bars.
They're the only ones you can really buy widely (from 7-11 etc).

        • With a Calippo they wouldn't need to necessarily freeze it until it arrives in Australia and goes to the shops - the packet they come in are kind of water tight and sealed…

Maybe they freeze them straight away nevertheless?

  • How many are in 1 pack?

  • Love callipos, shame about being made in China though!

  • Calippos - one of the few things my wife can eat right now, with the morning sickness and all…
    Thanks for the post.
