Plus several varieties of Kellogg's cereals, Continental Pasta and Sauce Packets, Praise mayonnaise, and some other groceries are also 50% off.

Toilet paper and tissues from Coles are not 50% off (and not the cheapest price) but I think they're worth mentioning because you can get up to 12 packs and there is stock available (at least in my area):

Eg. Kleenex toilet paper 32 for $15
https://shop.coles.com.au/a/pimpama-city-sc/everything/searc…

Kleenex tissues $2/200 sheets
https://shop.coles.com.au/a/pimpama-city-sc/product/kleenex-… (also had stock in my area).

Coles tissues at $1/224 sheets
https://shop.coles.com.au/a/pimpama-city-sc/product/coles-ti…

Ps. Woolworths has 45 rolls of Kleenex toilet paper for $18 but none of the stores in my area had stock (Amazon is probably the best way to go here at $19.50 for 45 rolls https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/537879

Note: you can also get Coke at the same price from Amazon, but in 6 and 12 packs, eg https://www.amazon.com.au/Coca-Cola-Classic-12-1-25/dp/B07PY…

  • One thing I dislike about coles online is that you must use your credit card.

    • rather than paypal or something?
      Not sure what you mean

Rather than using discounted egift cards (like with Woolies online).
Can use those in-store. Could otherwise save a few dollars per online order.

I just checked, and it let's me use PayPal.

I just thought I'd tell you what I was told once, which a lot of people probably don't realise, is that when you use a personal PayPal account, PayPal supplies your full name and address to the seller.

I rang PayPal about it and they said the point of using PayPal is for security not privacy.

People need a business PayPal account (free change from personal account) to keep their details hidden from the seller.

As for Coles Online, the biggest problem I have with them atm is that you can't change the product substitution option (but when I rang them I was told it was temporary).

      • Yeah because everytime you make a purchase online you need to supply your "billing address"

Thanks, just ordered the Diet Coke from amazon. Much easier than going to the shops.

You can also choose to subscribe and save an extra couple of bucks, then go into your subscriptions, and cancel it after ordering.

I don't know if it's targeted or not.

Thanks. That's what I did. If you could lock in the price, it might be okay, but I think you just get charged the going rate.

        • I think you lock in the price, but I'm not sure.

  • compulsory product substitution - so you get what they want only ? seriously?

so in addition to no rainchecks, no returns, no free stuff when coles change the price in store after you have put in your trolley, and no scanning error policy anymore you pay Coles only to give you what they decide?

never let it be said that the big 2 supermarkets don't gouge at every opportunity…

    bkind yeah right

    • Lat week I ordered lamb shoulder, it was about 18% of the $100 order in dollar terms. Emailed me that it was not available and no substitution. Sad as I was planning Moroccan slow cooked lamb. The order came with 2 free items, listed as samples in the invoice, value about $6. So that was nice never had that before. Now I have ring them as the 4000 points bonus not credited as under $100 but week prior they said they would do it on another account.

        Interesting.

I have rarely if ever got a substitution (even when unknowingly I had that option turned on).

But like you, I got some freebies to "make up" for the missing item(s).

In fact the biscuits I got for free have become my favourite (Coles branded 40% or 45% choc chip).

Yes that would make sense get people to try their products. Neither of the 2 they gave me were plain label.
