OK prices, but annoyingly excludes the 'Best Buys' - as I was after a Maxi Guard Pro. Typical..

  • Yeah, that sucks, the one I'm after is a Best Buy….In no rush so I'll wait.

    • Been waiting for months and haven't seen it on special. How much can I expect to save on a maxi guard pro?

Best I got was $360. Keep an eye out for when baby bunting puts it on sale as they also have these prices in their eBay store. They used to join the 10-15% off selected eBay sellers and you could get 10% off eBay gift cards. Obviously this doesn’t really exist anymore but you can still get discounted gift cards and wait for a promotion like $20 off $200+ spend/$50 off $500+ spend etc to stack

And prices of Britax car seats are super meh, not much different than their everyday discount…

    • Yeah, i bought a combo stroller+car seat 2 weeks ago at a discount, then last week prices went up, and now they are back down to what they were 2 weeks ago. Ridiculous.

  • Infasecure always seems to come down to 50% off, Brittax never does.

Definitely rate the Grandeur if you can fit it in your car. For $350 it's a very good deal.

    • Ok that's good to know. Seeing as the Maxi Guard Pro is $130 more. May have to pop in on the weekend and check it out.

      • If you've got a newborn (or are expecting), the Maxi Gaurd Pro in the link there isn't suitable until 12 months or so. You then kind of have to get a capsule or another seat for the 0-12 month period which IMO is a waste of money unless you borrow one from someone.

We've got 3 Gradeurs all up, two in our cars and one to go swap between the grandparents. That's how much we like them. I think we paid close to $400 each but you never need another seat.

        • What's your opinion on installing/removing the Grandeurs? (since it doesn't have ISOFIX buckles).
I've read that these convertible seats, esp 0-8y, are larger. Before I go in store to BB, would it be suitable in a small car e.g. Yaris?

          • +2

@JJlikes2eat: Get shown how to install them properly and you'll be able to do it safely very quickly.

You won't get a 0-8 ISOfix seat, I think because the child and seat will generally exceed the weight limit of the isofix system before they're 8. I think there's seats that offer both now but I haven't looked in to them.

Fitment depends a lot on the rear seat design, where you put it (side or middle) and how much leg room you need up front. We had it in a Mazda 2 at one point and my mum has a CH-R which is quite small in the back. It will be tight but if the rear seat is quite upright you may be ok. We also have a Qashqai and it doesn't go so well in that. Putting it in the middle may give a bit more leeway and is generally safer for bub but can be hard to get them in and out once they get heavy, are sleeping etc.
You'll fit it in once they forward face but keep them rearward as long as possible, it's a lot safer for them as their neck can't handle the sudden weight shift of their head in an accident.

  • Any opinions on the Britax Safe-n-Sound Platinum PRO Plus? is this their most recent model? and does anyone know if the prices for Britax go on sale fairly often? we are expecting in early August.

    • I'm in the same boat and looking at the graphene or graphene+ (is the Tex worth it?)

From a search it doesn't go on sale that often but I'm holding out for EFY sales since we have time.

Deals can be had but from what I've found they're normally stacked with ebay and baby bunting sales.

  • I managed to snag the Britax Maxi Guard Pro for $445 delivered with a price beat. The Infasecure Grandeur looked OK, but the material and padding did feel vastly inferior to the Britax.

Spoke to someone I trust that works there and she said go Britax every time over Infrasecure. Better quality, more features and way better after-sales service.
