I need a cheap work table where I can have enough space to place some open textbooks around me. Plain table will be great, don't need it for anything else like computers.

A pity, because for the money you're looking at spending you could end up with proper timber rather than just laminate, but it's your choice.
If you have a look at officeworks they often have tables and desks quite cheap on clearance (you'd probably have more luck looking instore rather than online to score these though.)

If you don't mind second hand, I've got a table quite similar to the last link (Jonas). It's black and has some nicks/scratches.
$50 pickup (Western Syd) and I'll throw in a free filing cabinet if you like!
