Laptop Replacement for Aging Desktop PC (Budget $2,200)

Hi.

Would appreciate advice on a suitable laptop 2 in 1 to replace an old PC (Windows 7). Main use is general mail and web surfing, photo editing, quite large spreadsheets, Visio drawing package.

Like the idea of picking up the laptop and using it away from desk.

My budget is $2,200 for 15.6 inch, 4k display, 16Gig mem, 512Gig SSD, and best CPU that keeps me within budget.

Maybe I'm asking for too much but am bewildered by different brands, models and specs.

Thank you in advance.

Not a 4k display - but - This deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/537151 can be customised to a Ryzen 7 CPU, 16gb ram, and 512gb ssd. Mocked it up in checkout and comes to $1,182 free shipping. Unless you really need that 4K display.. To be honest at this screen size, 4K is way overkill anyway and 1080p makes much more sense.

  • If you can stretch the budget to $2659, this 2in1 XPS 15 fits your needs.
For something more powerful, traditional laptop, this XPS 15 fits the bills at $3144.
Some other options are Gigabyte Aero 15, HP Spectre, Razer Blade 15, Thinkpad X. Note than most of them are quite pricey in their 4K configurations. If you don't really need 4K, there're much cheaper options out there.
