What is this?
google + airfyryer = your answer
it's for people who can't be bothered using an oven and get sucked into buying a useless product because they're under the impression that it's somewhat really innovative and that everything coming out of it is healthy since the words air fryer are printed on the label.
What store location?
For those interested in this but not too sure about it. Philips has a "free-trial" offer ATM. Apparently if you are unsatisfied with it (within 30 days of purchase and another 30 days to return it) they will refund the purchase price. The only down-side to this offer (AFAICS) you need to fork out for the postage to Fairfield, VIC. Details here:

I live VERY close to there… Wonder if people nearby can just return it in person :P
A Phillip J Fryer? Awesome!
Has anyone used one or know anyone that has one?
I've also been interested in these since being released, but the price held me back…
They're $257 (plus $10 shipping) at http://www.theappliancewarehouse.com.au/p-2143-philips-viva-… if you can't get to a HN.
I have the Tefal Actifry and it is AWESOME, best chips and wedges with only 1 tablespoon of olive oil for 1.2kg of potatoes / sweet potatoes. We use it almost everyday.
Damm you for having a positive comment about the fryer. I'm going to have to buy one now, lol…
I have the Philips Airfryer. I don't like how my chips turn out, but chicken nuggets, etc. turn out OK. Don't buy this if you think it will replace deep frying everything - I did and I sort of regret it.
It looks like it's just a small fan forced oven. So whilst the price is cheaper I don't think these things are bargains, it's a JASKA - (just an superfluous kitchen applicance), since you can use your oven

Why spend $259? when you can have for $0?
Spray your _____ (fill with your choice, chips, meat, vegies, etc.) with Olive oil - thats less than 1tsp
put that in your oven and you have crispy _____ food all the time.
Just another flop to me.
Be careful not to get olive oil past smoke point in the oven as it can become carcinogenic.
Where is the evidence on that comment?
Even I've never come across that. It looks like a myth.

I wouldn't mind erring on the side of caution. Here's an interesting article by a Polish naturopathic physician. I'm not saying that it's reliable but it's for all to decide for themselves.

Smoke point for various oils.

But FWIW, frozen chips/wedges come pre-dipped in Oil/fat anyway.
I have an old oven and it takes a long time to heat up, so I tend not to use it just for chips etc.
What's the Amex deal this sounds interesting
