    Looking at the containers price
    Doesn’t seems worth IMO

    • Yeah you are much better off buying one of these and using it with a regular vacuum sealer and mason jars- https://www.amazon.com.au/T03-0023-01-FoodSaver-Wide-Mouth-J…

Unfortunately they are sold out ATM.

      • These are great - can also use them with standard glass jars with a bit of fiddling. The foodsaver containers however are excellent - there are various sizes and most importantly have much wider mouths for things like large vegetables, fish, etc…

      • Where do you get your mason jars and lids. They seem inordinately expensive. Thanks.

I buy the Ball jars from spotlight/bigW/amazon personally. They're not cheap cheap (typically $3-5 per jar) but they last really well and the glass is thick so I haven't had any breakages even under high pressure/temp etc.

Better off getting the bag version (such as VS4500) which support the containers if you ever decide to go that route.

    • Included Accessories
      3x Cup container
      5x zipper bags

      • Sorry I mean the non resuable vacuum seal plastic, not the valved zipper bags.

        • +1

What advantage do the non reusable bags have over the zipper ones? I would think part of the appeal of this device is the reduction of single use plastics.

          • +1

@Hinee: Reading reviews, the reusable ones do not hold as good a seal, and likely cannot be used for sousvide though I havent confirmed that.

But It's more for the options - if you go with the their propriety valve system, you've got to pay a premium for it and your locked into the ecosystem. With the more expensive system, you can get mostly any vacuum sealer bag at a lower price OR you can use the valve system, your not locked in.

          • @Hinee: Definitely reduced use of single use bags. The containers generally come with an adapter so you can use the containers with a few other vacuum sealing systems.

I got one last time and the 3x cup container is one container that holds 3 cups rather than 3 containers.
At $29 it is OK, but would feel dudded if I had paid over $50 for it

        • How would you rate the effectiveness vs normal containers?

          • +1

@joshk: Never really used other containers (mostly used one-off bags in the past).. but it was very effective on the items I sealed. Crackers, biscuits etc.
(Not sure if you meant non-vacuum or other branded vacuum containers)

  • Cant add to cart for checkout?

    • same here…any progress?

  • No add to cart option

  • Cheap container, but pretty crap product when compared to the bag sealers, but is good for things to don't want to crush like keeping a salad fresh, chips, crackers, ect..
I just find getting a seal is finicky and cleaning the bags to re-use is a pain and it is very noisy.

Note: It comes with 1 container that can hold 3 cups of liquid, not 3 containers.

    • Why do you think it's a crap product? I personally prefer the containers to single use plastic bags. Store cut vegetables, avo, cooked food and they definitely store much longer. Some of the containers are designed for larger foods and even speed up marinating.

  • Can't order for delivery but available in many stores in Vic.

  • I got one last time it was this price and returned it because no matter how many times we zip sealed the bags (and these were the bags that came with the machine) air always got in.

    • Weird. I have these ziplocks and they've been excellent. Last for weeks and really help prolong vegetables in the fridge. I had problems with two zip lock bags and think they were damaged but of the 30 others I have used they have been perfect, even after several washes.

The containers are even better and allow large items to be stored for long periods. But I use another vacuum system with an adapter, which really sucks out all the air. Maybe that's the difference.

There's a reason they're clearing out these pieces of crap.

They make their money on the containers and bags not the sealer unit. So they sell this very cheap to get people into the eco system

  • Bought one last time and also have problems with the bags completely sealing properly. A normal vac sealer would be much better imo. The containers however are fantastic. I used it to store celery and fresh fruit and it stays fresh for weeks! Expensive to get started with containers but worth.
