Service NSW Bad Experience

Went to Service NSW cus I needed some regulatory checks for switching to a new job. It was a one-hour queue and completely astonished at what's happening.

  • Lots of people don't queue and I'm not referring to small requests like grabbing a statutory piece of paper or have something signed. They know the person at the front or a person at the counters and just walk in. Thats why it took so long since the queue does not progress. The rest have to join the queue. People with continual requests or assessment also have to queue.

  • Instruction to give a positive feedback: staff at the counters then instruct these guys to give them positive feedback, they specifically said take the ticket, scan at the feedback machine and choose all smiley faces. Same shit with the person serving me who made a mistake which caused my paper to get knocked back but then instructed me to give a positive feedback. I don't want them draw cat faces on my application and they could see me through the glass so I complied.

How are you guys fine with this? Heaps of people in the queue just want to renew the rego or do some checks. Not everyone looking to grab some hand-out and even then this is not right.

Mod: Updated title and replaced 'Centrelink' with 'Service NSW'. Ref.

What does Centrelink have to do with Service NSW?

I thought it was going to be about someone having a s**t at Centrelink

    • Anything can happen if you go on the right day…

  • Because the gainfully-employed and non-welfare dependant hardly spend a day at Centrelink in the average year and hence don't have to deal with that joke of an Australian institution.

The last time I needed to go in there was before Centrelink could directly deposit Medicare rebates into your bank account; queuing for 45 minutes to get that $35 dollars back for a doctor's appointment was an epic waste of time.

I understand it's a sh*tshow of incompetence but you're not going in there every week for regulatory checks are you? It's not like you're being subjected to Centrelink that often.

Is that the same as Service NSW?
I thought one was federal and the other was state?

  • I don't know what Service NSW is but are these assumptions you are making based off a one hour experience you had? How sure are you that these people jumped the queue because they personally knew someone, which is what you are alluding to? Do you know the exact details of how and why they jumped the queue?

I completely understand that it would be frustrating to be there for a long amount of time for an issue that for you is really small thing that is fixable, but I'm just wondering whether this is a objective reflection of your experience?

Are you sure they didn't queue?

Last time I had to get something done at Service NSW I queued and when it was my turn I told them why I was there. They asked me to fill out a form and told me to return back to them after I had finished filling the form out.

Once I had finished filling the form out I didn't join the queue again. I just waited for the person that was serving me to become free and I went back to them.

Are you sure that's not what you were observing? Someone who already had queued, but was going back after getting a form or something else done?

Are you sure you're not overreacting?

    What a whinger!

      • Actually, I could fully understand someone's frustration in trying to get their bushfire relief funds.

  • Centrelink =/= Service NSW

    • Don't hold your breath, if rural post offices can act as Centrelink agents…

  • Yep. It purposefully needs to be a shitshow to dissuade people from coming back. If anything , it needs to be worse. As a taxpayer, I demand literal Sh*ts as part of the decor at all centrelink offices :p

  • Didn't know there was a VIP Pass at the place lol

Haven't been in years and years, but I'm fairly sure the officers specifically instruct clients to walk straight up if they have already been served and are just filling in a form.

I think you are getting angry at a context you don't know.

  • Wouldn't touch the renamed and slimmed down Centrelink with a 1000ft barge pole.

Lots of people dont queue and I'm not reffering to small requests like grabbing a statutory piece of paper or have something signed. They know the person at the front or a person at the counters and just walk in.

I see you ran into the regular / repeat customers.

Same happened to me, went to Centrelink and the bastards wouldnt register my car. ~

And no wonder Service NSW won't process your claim as you are in Melbourne.

Its because theyre told to fill it out and return back to the person. they've probably already queued.

    What?

  • My local Service NSW is a haven for disgruntled Instagram rejects. It’s like they are annoyed people even come in and they are always dressed up like they are heading to an instagram fashion shoot for their “only fans”… The place will be full and there will be one serving and the others will either be checking their hair or nails or sorting blank pages…

And the same with the feedback. “If you like, you can leave that with me and I can fill it out for you…” Um, no thanks. How about spending less time being disgruntled with your job and more time serving people.

FWIW, the times I have used Service NSW have been an absolute blessing compared to the system that was there in the past.

    • lol yeah, the youngens dont know the pain we all used to endure.
