I see you formatted your parity…
Searching says these are WD Reds WD80EFAX, can anyone confirm?
No, they're "white" variants. EMAZ to be specific.
Cheers, just found another post saying the same as well.
looks like the current batch has changed to the non helium WD80EMAZ, which runs off a the same platform as the HGST HC320 data center drive.
Good info found on Reddit about shucking them - https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/7fx0i0/wd_easystore_8tb_compendium/
That particular comment is pretty old, since my purchases last year and onwards they've been helium based. Here's more info on the drive itself.
Two purchases back in February this year were also helium.
$247 is the normal price and will change depending on the USD to our AUD. This isn't a sale price.
That's not how this works to be honest.
They have been floating around this price for some time. They were ~$205 earlier this year, that's a bargain. This post is just the normal price.
That is how it works, because prices are not static. Not everyone can wait until things return to Pre-Covid pricing.
I got a 10TB for $250 in November, but I had to buy one for $330 last month. Both are still bargains.
Both are still bargains.
Depends on ones own philosophy. But I disagree $330 is a bargain, I see it as "the best price at the time", sure but that doesn means its also a "bargain". There's a difference….
We are in a COVID price bubble at the moment for tech. NOTHING is a good deal at the moment.
@hypie: Sorry, but no. This is not a bargain or a deal as this is the usual price.
@hypie: Lowest price availabile and bargain-worthy-ness are not the same thing.
Just because something is available doesn't mean its a "bargain".
@hypie: I'm just going to stop here because I don't like running around in circles and you simply don't understand what this site is designed for…
Hint: It's the word after OZ
@hypie: By golly, you got it!
More cheaply than usual or expected.
Is this price usual and expected if you did a 5 min comparison? Yes
Is is out of the usual price and considered a "steal" if you bought it? No.
@zeomega: @Zeomega You just posted a case of Corona for $44.80? A whole 10% cheaper than Kogan. WHAT A BARGAIN. Yet no negative votes.
@hypie: My take away from the amount of negative votes I got is that this clearly isn't a Bargain :p.
Also it looks like most of you think the negative effects of Covid-19 on price and availability are about to finish soon. I suspect we will all be unpleasantly surprised.
@zeomega: came here to neg you, but meh, your right.
Not much of a deal here sorry, they were $200 pre-covid when on sale.
Yes, i think i might wait a bit, and see/hope it can get closer to that $200 mark.
Are they even sending package to Australia due to covid?
My package to Malaysia (WD Red warranty claim) got knocked back by Aus Post recently
Received my 8tb WD ultrastar a couple days ago no problems.
Yep! I bought this 2 weeks ago. Arrived a week later perfectly fine.
anyone knows if this item come with power supply (the adapter)? or just usb cable and harddrive?
best wait until we get to dollar parity…
