Need a New Car Battery for a Toyota Kluger 2008 AWD

I usually buy the batteries from RAC WA. They come out and replace the batteries free of charge within the 24 month warranty period.

However, always seems to run ok until after the 24 month period.

Would it be better to go to Supa Auto or one of the other shops and buy a battery from them like century. Century is $50, + $15 lazy man installation :-) more expensive than RAC with 24 month warranty.

Or would it better to continue with RAC.

I am sure that someone has been in my situation before and would like to hear from them.

Thanks

    Century is $50

The link you provided says $279.99?

Supercharge batteries have a 36 month warranty. If you can, wait for a 30% off sale at Autobarn

Supercharge make awesome batteries! Get the Gold or above with the calcium.

      • Just had RACV out to jumpstart my car, it has a Supercharge GoldPlus which was replaced on warranty a little over a year ago and is already dead and bulging. He advised me to not buy this cheap brand and instead go Century or better. Didn't try to upsell me, I know some roadside assist people do, simply told me don't buy Supercharge.

        • Got just over 8 years from silver supercharge, and replaced it with the same

        • What sort of car? It might have one if the ‘smart’ alternators that don’t charge the battery fully leading to reduced battery life.

Yeah, to lazy to write properly as well ha ha ha…

Century makes 70-80% of the batteries in Australia.

Just go with a good price and you should be fine.

They all last around 2-3 years under normal use.

    Best of luck.

I replaced the factory battery in my 2012 Kluger about 12 months ago with a Century one from Supercheap auto.
I cant remember the specs but I spent the extra for a good one. At the time they had a deal on and scored a good price too. At the time many people recommended the Supercharge brand but the price on the Century was better.
If you intend to keep the car for a few years then a quality battery is worth the $.
    Go Supercharge or Century.
A 2yr life out of a battery in a Kluger is not good.

Yea I got 7 1/2 years out of a Camry, only 80k km use though. It was on OEM Toyota from Yuasa

      • The 2 Toyotas I had before this one I got nearly 10 yrs out of the original battery. Cars were always garaged at night which helps I suppose?

I believe Century is now Century Yuasa batteries?

      • Yuasa are great batteries, as are Panasonic

Get one from Costco if you can install it yourself, you will save a buck!

  • My 2008 Kluger absolutely shits me with locking the car and the interior light stays on. Or the back window isn't shut properly and the car still locks but doesn't turn
off the lights. I have once again fully drained my battery last night and it is on charge now. I have some bluetooth battery monitors arriving this week that should alert me
when the battery is running down.

    • Throw some Inox Battery Conditioner in the cells, it works wonders.

  • If you are handy, believe it or not the cheapest place I have found for batteries is Bunnings:

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/exide-endurance-n50zz-vehicle-ba…
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/exide-extreme-xn50zzlmf-vehicle-…

Looking at $156 or 176 for the battery for the Kluger (i think)?

    • Thanks for the tip. Had no idea that they are selling car batteries..

  • Just got an email from Supercheap and Century batteries are on sale.

    Funny story…

Went to Autobarn this morning with a 20% discount voucher (signed up for newsletter).

Asked for a free battery test

They asked me to start the car so that they could continue to with the free battery test.

Battery was completely dead ha ha ha.. Would not whisper a sound….

Paid $223 for the Century Ultra Hi Performance 4WD Battery NS70LX MF .

    Installation was $12.

Happy as happy can be :-)

    • Good news. Should last a lot longer than the 2 years you got out of the ??? RAC battery.

      • should be good for 4 years, just be aware of constant short trip usage (I use a Ctek charger to optimise).
