I reckon the new Ryzen 3 3300X could be worth a look at $205. Not sure when it will be available but PLE Computers have listed it for pre-order.
I saw pc case gear has it for sale. Still pretty amazing that a quad core with smt can game really well!
3300X would definitely be worth it if you care more about gaming plus you get the added bonus of PCIe 4.0. The 6 core CPUs will still outperform it on a multicore processes obviously but you need to gamble somewhere.
If literally the only thing you are doing with it is gaming then the 3300x would be better, otherwise (programming, streaming, editing, etc) the 1600AF is the way to go at this price point.
Have to downvote because the 1600 AF is far better value, it's basically the same cpu but cheaper. Like less than 2% performance increase for the 2600, which is reduced to 1% or less if you oc.
