3x eBay Orders Cancelled Due "Quality Issues"

Anyone else having eBay orders cancelled lately "due to quality issues"?

I've had 3 separate orders, from both Australia and China been cancelled within an hour of purchase this week.

Why list an item if you can't supply it?

Can't work out if its a feedback thing or turnover or can't supply it, or delivery. Seems highly coincidental to be real.

Anyone else experience this? Got any thoughts?

Old listings buy now. Did you check they had
    stock before ordering.

  • Something to do with item ranking in searches I think.

  • Some items are getting returned to sender by the carrier. I have some sympathy for sellers right now, because economy shipping options are badly broken. A lot of items won't get through under ebay or aliexpress cutoff times. There is a big wave of refunds going through right now, as it's about 1.5-2.5 months after postage started getting highly affected by passenger aircraft shutdowns and cutoffs are closing.

  • Yes, I just received the following for a drill bit:

    "Sorry to bother you.

The item that bought from our store is a new batch from the supplier. After testing them, we found they are the defective ones. We contacted the supplier, but they told us that they don't have this item available now. How about full refund you in order to protect your benefits ? "

I had never got a cancellation like this before.

  • Seller (dropshipper or random dude in an apartment) can't go down to the local market to pick your stuff, so they cancel it.

  • For local sellers this doesn't make sense unless they never intended to sell the item i.e. to maintain their ranking, however you no longer need to do it these days if you have your inventory & settings setup properly as it retains your past sales, or alternatively as mentioned can't get their hands on the stock quickly anymore due to COVID19. If it is an overseas seller, then maybe they are cautious of selling O/Seas at present due to the long freight delays with cheap postage services.

  • I've had the same experience, 2 orders cancelled in the last few weeks with the same excuse, Order paid, declared as shipped, then cancelled "the last few pieces in stock are damaged and not suitable for sale, we're cancelling your order"

Does that mean they don't get penalized for it? Whats the loophole?

  • Yesterday I received a "returned to sender, refund via eBay" message.

I asked for a photo but none forthcoming, apparently "courier companies have mind of own". It was sent Aus Post.

    They're getting inventive!
