Canesten Antibacterial and Antifungal Hygiene Laundry Rinse Lemon 1L $6.07

How much is the AntiViral one?

    • $3.50 for 50mL

    • Damn I didn't know Aldi made one, and I prefer eucalyptus too.

      • Aldi product is good, well at least smells good…no idea if it works.

        • I love the Aldi one, works great and is much cheaper than Canesten

  • When do u really use this?

    • +3

When you don't want to shrink your clothes in hot water and someone in household has a skin infection (jock itch, tinea etc) that you don't want to spread.

      • ahh thanks mate

      • +2

but as someone posted when it was previously on here, the active ingredient can be a skin irritant. So you could solve one problem and start another.

    • +3

You use it in the rinse cycle, to help neutralise any nasties that the washing itself didn't kill, and to make your clothes smell nicer.

Adulting 102: Don't underestimate the "neutralise any nasties" part if you're not washing your socks, undies, and workout/work wear in the hottest cycle that is most likely to kill them, coronavirus times or not. (Looking at you, cheap landlords who only connect the "Cold" line to machines in the shared laundry :-| ).

In America, the "make your clothes smell nicer" bit is generally done with dryer sheets or with fabric softener in the rinse cycle before machine drying. In Australia, many people dry outside instead, so this provides the "nicer smell" function without the "fabric softener chemicals" function that's usually not needed when drying outside, to people who don't do their washing with a pleasantly scented detergent.

Re this one vs the Aldi one, the choice comes down to two main things:
      1. Do you prefer lemon (Amazon) or eucalyptus (Aldi) scent?
      2. Is it safe (self isolation wise) for you to go to Aldi, and do you need to go there for other things anyway or will it cost you less than $3 to get there and back to buy the Aldi product?

When do u really use this?

When you actually care about hygiene. So probably never for most Australians.

    • +2

When you wander through the laundry and realise you didn't hang that load out. this in the re-wash helps against the 'day-old laundry' smell.

  • Amazon even hasn't delivered my previous one ordered from 3 weeks ago… stillll on its way

    • Should be delivered soon.
Similar thing happens to me as well. It took nearly 4 weeks to deliver the 1st item I purchased from Amazon.

      • oh my gdness… For me, the other orders like coke or toilet paper are really fast, the average delivery is only 1 week which is fine

  • How's the taste?

Last bottle was a bit flat
