Have had this installed in my dads car for over six months and it's been great. Only complaint, the screen could be a bit brighter for those really sunny days, it's still legible in direct sunlight so not too bad.

Tyre pressure can be set to PSI or BAR.

It has audible warnings if tyre pressure drops too low and this can be adjusted in the menu.

The main unit has a built in battery which can be charged via the solar panel or micro USB. My dad charges it via micro USB about every 4 weeks as his is placed in the centre console and doesn't get any direct sunlight. Here's a pic

The external sensors have replaceable 3v 1632 lithium batterries, haven't needed to replace them yet as it's only been six months.

Bang Good. Great postage. Expect to see it just in time for Xmas

These are from the AU warehouse, meaning shipped from Australia. Generally takes a little over a week.

    • I haven't bought from BG for a while, but was looking the other day and doesn't seem to be any free shipping from CN warehouse any more, and shipping isn't particularly cheap. For most items cheapest shipping is AU direct option of around $10, which was 3x more than the price of the product I was looking at.

      When did that happen?

      • +1

Think it might be COVID-19 related.
Another (much smaller) store I shop from that normally sends items free from China started charging $13 for shipping. When I asked about it they said that because international flights are reduced the carriers have increased the cost for at least a few weeks. Should go back to free at some point but who knows when

  • do these do to a decimal points? IE 34.4 rather that just 34 psi?

    Cheers

    • +1

      No decimal points.

      • Thansk mate

  • +1

Is it accurate? Did the measurements align with what you get at the servo?

    • +2

Yes they are accurate, have tested at a few service stations and with my own guages.

  • It is cheaper in Ebay, I got mine few months ago.
Pretty cool to see your Tyre pressure and its temperature. It can changes with season and the way you park your car under sun.
I do not use the solar charger but USB connection that keeps me informed.

    • +4

      Agree. It's cheaper here - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wireless-Solar-External-4-Sensor…

      Looks the same too.

Banggood has AU stock, that ebay seller is based in Malaysia so delivery won't be as quick.

          Ebay

          Item location: Chullora,NSW, Australia

          • +4

@hugh: Isn’t Chullora often code for it’s “local” but going to take at least 2 weeks and may or may not come from an international location?

            • @mapax: Yup. From China via freight consolidator into Sydney, then posted with AusPost.

          • +3

@hugh: Seller is based in Malaysia expect 3-4 weeks+ for delivery.

        • I bought it for $35 from seller by make offer option. Seller posted via Australia Post Let's see how long it takes.

  • Can anyone suggest whether this any good for motorbikes or if there is a better alternative? Thanks.

    • will be fine

      • Bicycles?

    • Michelin in the UK released a motorcycle specific version, or the put the Michelin name on it. It will be much more expensive than this solution although I couldn't see myself mounting this on my bike. Maybe leave it in the garage for a quick pre-ride check of the cold pressures?

  • $20 for New User?

    • only works out to $3 off for this purchase. still better than nothing.

  • Is it easy to refill the air?

  • I assume you have to remove each sensor when you need to inflate the tyres and then reinstall?

    • Yes

      • Removing the sensor to add air sounds like a real pain in the arse if you install the anti theft screws as well.

        • Can the sensors be used without fitting or locking the anti-theft screws?

          • +1

            @skid: I didn't fit the anti-theft screws.

        • +1

You don't have to fit the anti-theft nuts.

          • @lomie: You'd be nuts not to!

            • +1

@lordra: My nuts are still in the package.

  • Always wanted to get one but worried the caps are too large and would stand out

    • My car has hub caps, I don’t think these devices would fit as well.

      • It'll fit. I have hub caps as well.

What happens if a sensor goes out of range?

I don't need constant updates, I'm just oblivious to the tyres getting too low. Thinking about one unit between two cars.

    • I am thinking of the same. Planning to switch the sensors from car 1 to 2 as needed?

    • +2

At this price, just get one for each car. The constant shifting will wear out the internal O-ring, leading to slow leaks.

  • Got a tpms for around this price for my android head unit. These are great.

Compulsory in the US. Improve fuel economy and extends tyre life.

    • Is that not what this is?

      • +1

Don't need another display on the dash, pressures are shown on the head unit.

  • Thanks O.P

  • Can you disable the alarm ?

    • +3

Not sure, but you can adjust low pressure warning to 0 psi so in effect the same thing.

  • -2

    Does anyone serious use these?

  • +3

I've had a bad experience with this. Three of the four sensors broke within two months.

  • Was still able to get one for the price, not sure why it says expired.

  • +1

used a similar 6 sensor version with temperatures for towing the caravan since most accidents are tyre/blowout related, works pretty good through last year and summer 40+ days. solars always kept it charged through the trips too.

one of the sensors on my front wheel also alerted me to a brake issue too when the temperature skyrocketed with no apparent reason on a small drive to jaycar. went straight home and found the wheel scorching hot and found the brake calliper/pads tightly stuck on the rotor.

  • Anyone else try to apply the new user coupon for $3 and the price went up from the sale price?

  • +1

I see this is AU stock, but some are on AliExpress for about $27 if you don't mind waiting:

  • I take it the sensors are light enough so as not to affect the wheel balance?

    • Mine didn't need a wheel balance after fitting the sensors, YMMV.

  • +2

I bought a set of similar ones from ebay last year as we did a year around oz. Mine were 6 sensor and the dash unit's shape was a bit different. So not the same, but thought I would share my experience as I suspect the items are similar.

Pressure wise, I tested them against 2 seperate pressure gauges and they seemed pretty accurate. Amazed me how much the tyre pressures change as you start driving and they warm up (up to 8 or more psi).

Can set both high an low pressure warnings and high temp warnings.

I used the locking nuts, which makes taking them off and on slower but less chance of losing them.

I was initally worried about the sensors bouncing around and breaking the valve stems over corrigations. Probably did 20,000 km of corrigations no problems. Also went through numerous creek crossings etc and they are still working, so I guess they are waterproof enough. No noticable impact on tyre balance.

Solar panel does not keep them charged, so wind up charging off USB about once every couple of months.

Sensors go to sleep (stop transmitting) when they don't detect movement to save batteries. When the display unit can't see a sensor (eg we left the trailer behind), they seem to hold the last reading for an hour or so then blank them out. So sometimes as you start driving it will see some sensors then not others, then their pressure will jump/change as it gets a reading. Don't know what the actual refresh rate is, but I would prefer they gave a warning of some sort if they can't see a sensor. That said, when I took them off the pump up/let down the tyres they all went into alarm mode just about straight away, so they were working.

Overall I would definitely give these sorts of things a thumbs up as cheap insurance - may save a tyre ($300+ for our car) and a nasty acident if you have a slow leak or lose a trailer tyre.

  • Why it is showing $42.75 for me?

    • +1

Stock from the AU warehouse has sold out. $42.75 is the price shipped from China.

      • Thanks for the headsup. I was almost on the verge of ordering.

        • Same happened yesterday and then they added more stock to the AU warehouse. So could be worthwhile checking again later.

  • has anyone who bought had theirs shipped? mine is still processing, I have a gut feeling Bangood has no AU stock as advertised.

    • Mine shipped 8/5/20.

      • Mine too on 8 May.

  • Poor QC for this product. One of the sensors does not have any threads so I can't screw it on the valve on one of the wheels…

    • Mine fit ok, but don't read anything when the receiver is inside the car. Stand outside and they all come up. Grr.

      • Hopefully they just need new batteries. Do you have metallic tinted windows?

        • They are tinted not sure what kind. Got it working sitting above the sun visor. But it sometimes gives - 50c reading as well.

    • Glad I didn't end up getting this one then….
One of those products worth paying a bit more for reliability

  • Anyone know of a similar product that can do 5 tyres? Why does no one think about the spare?

  • I have purchased from eBay. Seller accepted my offer of $35.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/283736978177

    • thanks for this. i'd make the same offer.

      • I put first offer of $30 then seller rejected. I changed it to $35 and accepted automatically…as set by seller..
