My sister's partner is interested in a microphone for PS4, I'm hoping to avoid the Headsets/Microphones that are specifically for consoles if that's a possibility, in the hope that some PC-based ones are compatible.
Thanks.

Thank you Porker, they're going to see if they have one.
But if anyone knows of a PC mic that works reasonably well at a low price, that would still be good incase they can't find one, at least that way I can give him a present :)
PC mics can be bought quite cheaply, eg $5 - $10.
If it's a case that you want the headset only for a mic, then go cheap. If however, you want to hear sound and have sound/mic in a combo, then more money would be required for good sound quality.
the mic only option can be achieved by connecting the mic, but within the console select that sound still plays via the TV.
Apologies for the late reply Porker, I was hoping to see how they went with a previous-gen Bluetooth set I had stored, unfortunately Youtube isn't always the best for deals, I was hoping that's where this forum might have come in.
My idea of a suitable cheap headset would be between $20-50, I know you can use some Bluetooth headsets on Ps4 that were originally made for PC, but the only few that have been listed to me via YouTube were being sold at their RRP. Finding something that was down from $69 to $39 that had Ps4 compatibility would be a scenario I'd be happy with.
A simple phone mic can be plugged into the headphone/mic jack/port on the dual shock 4 controller and will work for both sound and voice.
I just use the headphone/mic combo that came with my mobile phone.
