Headphone Preamp with Bluetooth Output?

Hey all, I was looking at this thingy on Amazon https://tinyurl.com/ycfr4sqg Which a) Looks really cool but b) apparently only does BT input. I wanted something I could USB to the computer and stream audio to my BT headphones when I'm outside. Does anyone know if there is a gadget that will do it? Would prefer the mini tube setup if possible but it's not a deal breaker. (I tried and failed at google)

Cheers

  • I'm not quite sure what you mean, but if it's playback from computer to BT headphones you can just pair the headphones to the computer and choose them as a playback device.

With BT the amp you hear is the one in the device your listening to so using a headphone amp won't do anything.

If you want to play audio from a device into your computer then you can use Voicemeeter to route audio from a USB device plugged into the computer to the BT headphones.

    • Cheers. I don't have BT on my desktop PC and thought maybe something like one of those gadgets would generate a better sound than just using a BT dongle. Maybe not?

You are looking for a Bluetooth transmitter
    https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=taotronics+bluetooth+transmitt…

This is only one brand. They come in many shapes and price points.

    • Cheers. I think you are right. :)

  • OP you just want a bluetooth dongle, but bluetooth is a fairly short range transmission. You might get away with using a long USB cable, and then the dongle plugged into that near the window close to where you are in the yard.

The device you linked, will connect to your playback device via bluetooth, and will then connect to your headphones via cable.

I think you want something like this :

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07VM7JH3X

    • Im pretty sure that only has bluetooth input.

OP: I wanted something I could USB to the computer and stream audio to my BT headphones

      • with USB,coaxial, optical input and Line Out output

its right in the description, with pictures no less.

        • Yes but the description is lacking “bluetooth output” which is what OP wants to connect their headphones.

What you linked is a DAC / Pre-amp, the purpose of which is to convert digital-to-analog, therefore usually they lack ‘digital’ outputs like bluetooth.

The only output listed is ‘Line output’ which is analog RCA cable.

I own one of these DAC’s and the only ones with bluetooth I have come across are with bluetooth input.
To keep it simple, you can send Bluetooth to it, but it lacks the ability to transmit Bluetooth.

            • @garetz: But it lacks the ability to transmit (it is a Bluetooth receiver).
I am trying to help out OP here before they lay down $400 on your suggestion only to discover it lacks the ability to connect headphones to it via Bluetooth.

              • @thebadmachine: Bluetooth 5: everything you need to know

                https://www.whathifi.com/au/advice/bluetooth-5-everything-yo…

What purpose does it have bluetooth then ? Do you think its to recieve the signal ?
                That makes no sense.

                • @garetz: Yes because bluetooth is digital signal the product can convert to analog.
So you send it music digitally from your phone, and it converts it to an analog signal.
That is the purpose of a DAC.

  • Thanks all, yes the plan was to get USB audio signal from my desktop PC to my Sony BT headphones wirelessly. The one I posted in the OP only does BT input, not out. Cheers
