  • What are these used for nowadays? Back in the day this was a step up from bulletin boards (or step down) for getting files to your PC but what is the point of them now?

      • Don't say 'usenet' unless you follow up with 'Rule number 1 about usenet…'?

Imagine if you had a backup server with unlimited transfers, speeds and storage for $5 a month.

      • Hey Diji1, can you shed some light on what you do to achieve this? Been using newsgroups for years now but never thought of reverse engineering to meet my needs this way.

very good deal, I go for data deals rather than monthly subscription, better value for me as Im not a heavy user. a subscription like this will last me years

There was a good deal here on the weekend, $22 aud for 2 years@ 500gb per month. Worked out to 95 cents per month and if the company goes down I won't lose what's left of my block account.

      • Awesome, Op below posted the link, looks good!

I bought a Bulknews block in Nov 2018, only 1200 days retention which is a pain and they're VERY slow and basically unusable at times…

Last November they had ongoing issues, speed was gagged to 8Mbps (1MB/s)or less, their support was non-existent, the first email they ignored, the second they replied with a generic response, I ended up having to buy a block from NewsDemon which is better all round, great retention… Bulknews came right after a few weeks and I've continued using up the block but I wouldn't purchase from them again…

I'm thinking about jumping on this ripper deal now:

heh, beat me by 'that' much…..

    • I used to have newdemon, they ripped me off with some scam deal which I wasn't to using up. 500GB/ month is a max mate.
For a fill server I rather have a life time block since I don't download that much.

With a short 100Mbit connection getting 95 straight, for this money can't get 4 cheeseburgers.

Yeah, I use monthly for my newer stuff and keep a block account around for older stuff, so I expect my block accounts to have way longer retention. 1600 Days is not enough for a block account IMO, but I guess it depends on how you're using it.

    Hey All
I'm curious about how others buy/pay for these deals these days. No longer are preloaded debit cards available that don't require phone or something to activate, like used to be sold in Woolies and Auspost.

Do you just use your usual debit/ credit card//PayPal? Or something else. Some of the methods like Bitcoin are just difficult.

I'd jump at this, but this question always makes me hesitate.

    • How else would you expect to pay with things online?

Most sites take paypal or card.

      • Check please :)

User of Usenet.Farm here…. Have been for a couple years now. Never had any issues with DCMA within a couple days of a new release. Highly recommended

      This is bulknews not Usenet.farm

      • +2

I know. I am just recommended Usenet.Farm as a alternative.

        • Oh sorry.
          Thought you misread lol.

I am currently using Usenet.farm as well and it has so far been the best for me too :)
Hopefully we see a deal for them!
