An international student friend of mine offered a $352 Jetstar credit valid for 10 months but the actual departure date can be a further 12 months after that. He offered to sell it to me for $250. He doesn't need the money till August though when student fees are due.

So it's hard or strange to sell it to someone on gumtree.
I've asked 2 mutual friends and they suggest I reject the offer.
What I want to know is what a fair price is bearing in mind he is a friend. Greed and empathy or maybe sympathy for his situation suggests I should take his offer especially as I want to go climbing interstate next year in Blue Mountains or simply visit Vivid. I would need to book a return flight with a fellow passenger to use up all the credit at once as per terms and conditions.
A third friend suggests I should negotiate a lower price.

Qantas own jetstar.
It's only really a good deal if you know your travel dates now, that way you can see if the booking process works in your name and tell your friend that you will pay once the booking is confirmed.
I wouldn't be purchasing a voucher with plans to make the booking later down the track as you may run into problems.
