  • Where is that $5/GB/month plan.

    • Hi.

After using the coupon code on the VPS ordering screen, it will take off 50%.

So the 2GB VPS becomes $10 / month rather than $20 / month.

If you're after only a singular GB of RAM, I can organize that too - But not something we publicly offer as I suggest 2GB minimum.

      Cheers.

      • So wouldn't it be $10/2GB/month? Might as well say $0.001/MB/week.

        • That's correct.

But we have multiple plans each at $10 per GB of RAM. With the discount this drops to $5 per GB of ram.

Perhaps a bit unclear in my original post? I just tried to word it mentioning that each GB is now $5 rather than $10.

          • @Obble:

            $10/2GB/month

            • @askbargain: I changed it up a bit on the original post.

              Cheers for your feedback :)

Thanks everyone for having a look at the offer. OzBargain has been kind to our business and I would just like to reiterate that ANYONE in Australia that is struggling during these times financially or otherwise, are very welcome to message myself directly or via our website.

I will do my best to accommodate any requests and support local businesses and local individuals by offering free hosting for 3 months. If times are still tough after 3 months we can re-evaluate.

Missing $5 / revenue per month on a few customers isn't a great deal for our business, but may have a bigger impact on someone else, so get in touch.

Appreciate honesty here, but of course anyone could make it up. So I have faith in the community :)

I have been with Obble for almost a year and really happy with the service. Great customer service.

    • Thanks for the feedback here on OzBargain! :)

  • What on earth is the deal with Obble.com? I think it's one of the strangest websites I've ever seen - are you responsible for that?

    • lol. Definitely not.

But agree very strange, once you get to all the Jelly videos.

  • Is your web hosting suitable for WordPress and Woocommerce or do we need to go with VPS for this?

    • +1

      Hi,

Suitable for WordPress & Woocommerce, many of our clients are running WordPress.

No need for a VPS unless you'd prefer further control & more than 5 sites on one plan.

      Thanks!

      • Can we upgrade or downgrade the plan easily? What if we pay for the plan annually, will it be adjusted accordingly or do we need to wait until the end of the annual billing period? And will the 50% off still apply to the new plan? Sorry, so many questions lol!

        • +1

          No worries :)

As best as the billing system can manage, it will automatically adjust on upgrades/downgrades and keep the 50% pricing structure.

If you were to upgrade from Monthly to Annual payments it 'should' also maintain the discount - However, if you're changing the actual billing period (like in this case, monthly to annual) it's usually best to submit a ticket.

Regardless though the 50% discount applies for lifetime, any upgrades or downgrades and any billing period. If in the unlikely circumstance you upgraded to Annual and it didn't apply the discount, then the excess would be refunded or applied to future invoices.

          Hope that helps!

I'm using both on my standard hosting service at the moment and don't have any issues. Site runs pretty quick and have no issues in paying $27.50 a year.

Best part of Obble is the customer service, first time I've ever looked in hosting so I have logged a lot of newbie queries and they have always been quick to reply and very helpful (and patient).

  • I'm interested in your unlimited offering, quite reasonable indeed. Is it unlimited domains?

And does your crew organise existing cPanel migrations?

    • Hi!

5 domains on the unlimited plan, you can then purchase additional addon domains if you need from $1.50/each per month (From memory!).

We can assist in free transfers for Annual plans and longer.

      Cheers.

      • How does cPanel migration work, exactly? If I request a domain transfer as part of my hosting order, is cPanel migration handled automatically as part of that process or do I need to request it after the fact?

Also, when configuring an order and selecting the transfer option, the page says "Transfer to us and extend by 1 year* for $20.95 AUD", but there's no clarification as to the fine print the asterisk represents. I assume my .net domain + 12-month billing cycle would be eligible for the extension?

        Thanks!

        • +1

It's not automatically done, it would have to be done manually after purchase of an annual or above plan. Simply put in a ticket after purchase and we can sort that out for you.

As for the domain transfer, most domains are renewed by 1 year on purchase with the exception of .au extensions (.com.au, .net.au, etc). These cannot be renewed unless they are transferred within the last 3 months of their duration. This isn't a restriction we impose, but one by the registrar.

If you have a regular .net domain and purchase a transfer, then it will keep it's duration and extend by 1 more year.

          Cheers :)

  • "Unlimited Bandwidth" is it really :P
Also whats the speed and which DC do these sit under? Is it like a OVH or self collocated?

    • +1

      Hi,

      We use OVH Datacentre Sydney.

250mbps up/down and yes unlimited bandwidth within reasonable use - If you're running a major file uploading site with TBs per day then there'll be issues with the 'unlimited bandwidth'.

However no limit is imposed for regular websites, at the current state of our servers none of them hit even 10% of our monthly limit.

      • Thanks for the clarification, been looking into a VPS recently for a plex/media server for some content so the data limit was the question from the VPS side of it :)

fyi to avoid issues you may want to add something like 'fair use policy bla bla bla' as could land you in hot water should someone take you up on that :)

        • Thanks for the suggestion - We do have some notes in our terms of service, I will refine these later today and clarify further in our terms as a precaution.

          Appreciate it.

Each node has an overall 5TB limit in bandwidth. If you expect your media server VPS to do below 1TB / month then I'd personally consider that reasonable. If not, all the best in your search for a VPS :)

Been very helpful. Great site for us. Signed up in the last deal.

    • Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear it :)

  • Hi, do you allow custom ISO images?

    • +1

There's some ISO images available by default - If you have a specific request for a certain ISO/distribution then we can support those.

Would need the URL & then contact support and we can add it to our VPS panel.

      • Other providers have an easy way to upload/attach an ISO link and a guides to install KVM drivers. What about Windows 10 Pro (I will provide licence)? What is the upload bandwidth?

        • Sorry I just read the other comment about bandwidth and that's all good for me. Just a question on Windows ISO + installation of KVM drivers, either automatic or via console?

          • @crawrey: Hi Crawrey,

Currently this would have to be added to the ISOs that we have available for that node. Once the ISO is added (In this case your Windows ISO) then you can easily install this ISO yourself via your panel automatically.

It's the initial addition of a new ISO, if not already present, that must be done manually. I'm definitely happy to add a windows ISO for you, just let me know which one after ordering and I will get to it as soon as possible.

            Thanks & hope this helps!

Obble are my hosting provider of choice at the moment. I have migrated many clients over the last 6 months. Their service is excellent, online support is very responsive (even on public holidays) and their offerings are very capable. I have one client running 5 WordPress sites off a single shared hosting plan (dedicated IP and SSL enabled) and the performance is outstanding. I would not hesitate to keep using these guys. The 50% off for life is a no brainer.

Thanks for the great feedback here on OzBargain!

  • Any reviews of Obble vs VentureIP or Zuver my current host.

    • +1

I've used Obble, VentraIP and Zuver. They all use cPanel. You really won't notice any difference between them for basic web hosting.

  • +2

I should mention as well, sign up with the deal and impressive support so far.

  • +2

Signed with Obble after many years with various providers ranging from ultra-cheap to pricey….some reliable and others frankly crap.
Have been very pleased with Obble, and found them to be the most obliging, customer satisfaction focused one I've dealt with.
(No, not a paid endorsement - just a genuinely happy customer)

    • Thankyou! Really appreciate the feedback here.

  • Can I use your VPS as a seedbox? I can't see it mentioned in any T&Cs

    • Hi,

That is permitted, the total node has a 5TB monthly bandwidth shared. Fair use would be 1TB bandwidth for a server like this.

I’m not sure if that would be enough for your needs, but let me know - we can possibly work out another solution.

  • Hey bud, How many VM's do you have running per node? What's the likelihood of running into "noisy neighbors"?
    Thanks.

    • +2

      Hi there.

Our VPS services are relatively new compared to web-hosting. They're primarily targeted to small and medium businesses with managed services (Mostly managed by Obble, they never even log in!).

A lot of these clients are running on a decent plan (8gb+). Our other clients are mostly businesses again, with smaller usages. VMs per node average is approx 5 per node currently.

Never oversold, and rarely even sold to capacity (e.g. all 32gb ram & CPU allocated). Currently average 'occupancy' so to speak is about 70%. Meaning 70% of the resources are allocated to users and the other 30% is sitting there for burst usage.

Hope I've explained that well - Pretty unlikely to have a 'noisy neighbor' as you say. Majority managed services or business clients who won't be even attempting to do something dodgy (or know how to).

      • +1

P.s. Apologies for the delay, I only check OzBargain once a day after a few days of posting an offer.

        • +1

All good! Thanks for the breakdown. Appreciate the transparency you've provided here :-)

  • I have 2 domains (1x .com and 1x .com.au).
I dont really need any website, I just use them both for email, and in fact the emails are forwarded to Gmail anyway (although Ive been considering changing to Microsoft instead).

I currently have 1 hosting plan (with another provider) of which the .com.au domain is the primary for the hosting, and the .com is a secondary.

Could I use both domains (for email only) with the $55/yr Starter hosting (which says 1 website only) ?

    • +1

      Hi,

Technically no. You could purchase an Addon domain for $1.5/month to get 2 domains on one starter plan that way.

However, after you place an order please submit a ticket and I'll chuck in an extra addon domain for free - Given the limited usage you anticipate :)

      Cheers.
