Has anybody had any luck on flashing android 10 on Aussie LG v50 from telstra ?
LG V50 Android 10 Update
Comments
Haha nobody knows whose fault it is…damn!!
Combination of both, LG was already slow to update things, then Telstra's slownes added on top.
same with oppo reno 10x zoom :(
I really want to update to 10 as some YouTube video says performance gets better and it's got darkmode…!
I just received a notification on my V50 with an OS update. Has anyone else received this and installed it?
I'm excited to get Android 10, but the file name says "V20b-MAY-13-2020" and so I was hesitant to downloaded it. I was concerned LG might be accidentally pushing a V20 rom to V50 users…
I think it's just the software version, not the model number. V500EM20b_00_0413.kdz was the actual file name of the rom UK got back in May. and…I'm running the update now :)
Just installed, yay it's Android 10!
…now to remind myself exactly what I've been missing out on
First thing I did was activate night mode!congrats! I've got mine upgraded too. Animation seems smoother :) oh yeah dark mode!!!
So glad the update has finally come out - does it include dualscreen widemode like in other regions? I'm downloading it now.
@shaolinbear: How did your update go? Get the dual screen widemode?
@ozhunter68: Yep, widemode was working (and that LG Widemode app on the play store works perfectly as well). Got a little worried bc when it turned back on it hung at the decrypting screen for a couple minutes and it was stuttering like crazy for the first 15 minutes or so. All good now tho, just got to figure out where all the buttons moved to :)
And glad that I can finally make this phone the DS emulator it always wanted to be.
Is anyone having problem with GMAIL crashing (Widemode for Gmail enabled)?
Just tested and yep, Gmail crashes as soon as I set to wide mode.
Thanks for checking. Will need to find a way to report this issue.
So I got the update last week OTA. Everything upgraded fine, except the main camera!
It now takes 10+ seconds for it to 'load' (from blank screen to an image), the image capture/rendering is extremely slow and the autofocus doesn't work.
Other apps that use the camera (Whatsapp, Facebook, Snapchat) have the same issue.
Installed GCAM (trawled xda-forums for it) and it improved somewhat, but still fairly unusable.
Pretty maddening considering the camera is pretty good. The Android 10 update did bring a lot of positive changes so it's sad to see it break something fundamental so badly. And yes, I did a factory reset, to no avail.
Software version: V20b-505-01
No such issue for me. The camera loads quickly and the photo is also instantly taken.
I guess I'm the unlucky one.
Not sure if it's reported in any other countries, else you might have to go thru warranty process :(
Since the update, I do miss the ability to switch lenses with a quick tap of an icon within their camera app. Now, it's a scroll wheel which can be finicky and can look weird in the video if you want to do a quick transition between each lens. Otherwise, I haven't seen any performance/battery issues. I have yet to play around with the dual-screen after the update, as that accessory has been stored. Might get it out in the weekend to at least update its firmware as well.
Infact it is an improvement. There is a trick to it though.
When in camera app, hold the tree sign. It will show a dial. There are three bars on the right next to the dial. Clicking that will show all three cameras in live feed. You can switch as you wish.
In the dual case, the three camera live feed is shown on the second screen, which would be awesome but second screen is too bulky when taking photos. That's only applicable to photos. I was referring to taking video.
Received notification for Android 11 update (Nov 2021 security patch). Anyone else already updated?
I have. Everything seems faster but fingerprint for an app sometimes does not work :( so I have to restart the app to login and etc.
I've reset the whole settings but still the same.No fingerprint issues for me. Infact I have not faced any issues except for camera out of focus at times (especially when scanning paper / QR code but I suspect that was before also).
Got Android 12 update today (1 July 2022 security patch). This is unbelievable !! We were wondering whether we will get Android 10 and here we are now on Android 12. Good Job LG.
Just over a year old $1,500 device that already doesn't get updates released over 6 months ago? How come? Is it an LG thing or Telstra issue?
