Change Insurance from NRMA to?

Hello all,
I have my current insurance with NRMA and I can't say I had any issues. Two separate car insurance claim, one at fault and other not at fault, went through fine. Home insurance is also fine and a small claim had no issue.

However, I want to see your thoughts, is there any other insurance company which can meet halfway through in terms of quality and the cost?
NRMA is just getting expensive.

I got car insurance quotes and Budget direct, Virgin Money is about $100 cheaper. However, it was without rental car option which I have with NRMA.
House and content insurance was about 500-600 cheaper when I checked last year.

  • You need to do the ground work and make calls and online quotes as you have done. The insurers all have different costs. I went from AAMI to YouI. I never make claims. Needed to last time, but stuffed up on the excess for the car. Youi was slightly cheaper up front, but thier excess will be higher than AAMI for car insurance by $300 if I make a claim. Also where you live has alot to do with the figure they give you.

    • Yes, I already have made some calls and know where I stand… more of the questions to review experience from different insurers.

Only saving $100? You'd be saving less than a coffee each fortnight. I'd stick with NRMA. You can search the experiences here in this forum and easily see that dealing with an insurance company when they're not on your side really sucks. If anyone can potentially avoid that, I'd recommend they pay that $100.

Yes, Budget Direct was the last option on the list, It is there for sake of comparison.

There are plenty of bad reviews for NRMA too but my personal experience is so far so good..That's why this forum is to see if people give good feedback for any other insurer.

  • Yeah same here, I left NRMA a couple of years back due to inflated prices and ended up with Suncorp for about half of what I was paying. No such thing as loyalty rewards any more, it's more like loyalty punishment.

  • But the little NRMA boy saves a Koala!! Dont you like Koala's ?

We are told this day in day out on the Box

    (Don't get too serious people)

  • I bailed nrma and went to Woolworths insurance, figure I’ll go back to nrma if it is cheap next quote
But they have become double the price over two years

  • I had my house and contents with NRMA for a few years, swapped to Woolworths for a year as it was a lot cheaper but never felt entirely comfortable with their insurance. Now have house, contents and car with RACQ. Aside from price, the most important thing with insurance is how you are treated at point of claim; I can't fault RACQ in that respect.

Yep, I'll look at Suncorp and others but don't want to go to Woolworths etc where they will make any and all excuses to refuse my claim.
