  • Managed to get one from calling OW at 8:00am and being on hold for 30 mins - managed to snap one up! The lady was super nice and was already prepared - I'm assuming my fellow Ozbargainers have been making her work for her pay!

    Cheers OP!

Really? Would be helpful if you share with us your receipt so we can go to our stores and claim its legitimacy.

  • Just got one from Good Guys Cairns, it wasn't in their system as the deal was too new

  • Remember when The Good Guys were actually good, before JB brought them out.

    • +6

They used to be good? What decade we talking here?

  • +1

Just got a call from local Good Guys. They have advised that they have cancelled my online order (to deliver) and they have about 50 people to call to them the same thing. Quick to take the money but advised 5 to 10 working days. Perhaps a small cash raise for them?

  • I purchased discounted giftcard through work this morning to buy this and placed the order successfully. Looks like they will cancel the order now and I will be stuck with this stupid giftcard.

    • +1

      Been there before lol.

    • -2

      Rookie error

      • I beleive it's the OzBargainer connundrum. You want the cheapest net cash outlay through discounted egift cards, but you wear the risk of any refunds being stuck in the gift card… (and the risk that gift card values fall when there's a better sale on them in the future).

  • +1

Just picked mine up from Good Guys Capalaba. No issues with honouring the price

    • Few people in Brisbane/Cairns seem to be having luck still..

      • +3

Queenslanders are a bit slow :p

        • which is a positive !

  • Officeworks won’t match with this deal as Good Guys have confirmed an error & have adjusted the website. They will be issuing an apology shortly

  • +4

PRICE ERROR. i came into the store to pick up. the lady said its price error. got refunded. Not Happy.

    • +2

They should get sue for false advertisement. Otherwise, they will never learn and feel they can get away with it.

  • +5

Can we leave negative feedback for this on eBay? If the item gets cancelled does the negative feedback go away?

It seems the GG are a recidivist price error offender. Perhaps they need to wear it so that they are incentivised to stop doing it!

    • Can we leave negative feedback for this on eBay?

      Of course…

      • +3

        JV has entered the chat

    • +1

Yes you are free to give negative feedback. But eBay automatically removes it for top sellers.

  • Got the call. GG.

  • +1

Managed to grab the last one from Richmond OW at 8:30, store assistant said they had already 2 others come through before me. Glad because I had put 1 through GG as well that will probably get cancelled.

  • +1

Got a call from Nunawading while driving. Apparently they were told at 915 not to release stock from head office m should have gone to Officeworks or good guys earlier damn.

  • If this isn't a cash grab… then why are the units STILL available for sale on their website? Surely their IT can remove the listing in a few mins.
    Something is VERY fishy here!

I told the Good Guys rep that they need to upgrade their inventory management system. If you have 1000 in stock, eCommerce sells 1000 then the website automatically shows as Out of Stock.

    • If this isn't a cash grab… then why are the units STILL available for sale on their website? Surely their IT can remove the listing in a few mins. Something is VERY fishy here!

They did. You're looking at the wrong Nest Hub. Only the non-Max one is listed on their website now. They pulled it over two hours ago.

    • +2

Not a cash grab. A price error. It's not that hard to understand, people make mistakes.

      • +2

Unfortunately for many people, mistakes are only genuine if they make it themselves. If someone else makes a mistake it's definitely a scam, a cash grab, and totally dodgy.

      • +3

A price error. It's not that hard to understand, people make mistakes.

Oops, I ran a red light.

'People make mistakes'. I should get off scott-free then?

        • -1

That's not a fair comparison. That is breaking the law. This is not.

          • +2

            @John Kimble:

That is breaking the law. This is not.

Misleading pricing is against the law too…

      • +1

Yes, people make mistakes. Sometimes, several people make several mistakes, in several places, at the same time. These “mistakes” must have occurred for this product to make it online, to eBay, and miraculously into a print catalogue. What an unfortunate series of events! Original commenter is right, this is fishy af.

JV rightly points out that this stinks of misleading pricing. The fact that the price was advertised in so many places - and can still be found in the live catalogue without correction, despite TGG acknowledging an apparent error - makes it hard to conclude that it was anything less than deliberate, and that last point is important, because the negligence is what makes this unlawful.

        • I feel like we could get enough Ozbargainers to take this a bit further with Fair Trading.

          • @joerd: If you flick a few pages ahead, it looks like just that appears to be a hot topic!

  • +4

They rang me up after i got a message saying item ready for pickup because they say they have no stock, I say oh that's OK i can wait for new stock, then say sorry price error have to cancel. Dodgy

  • Didn't think it was likely to get honoured given its a cheaper price than the discount Google gave through their staff training rewards (which are normally very generous and up to 90% off).
Still ordered one through eBay haha, got left a voicemail about them cancelling the order :(

  • I picked up too 9 am

    • +1

      No worries Broden.

    • +6

Damn, this thread has used up all my neg votes. Consider yourself lucky.

      • +1

I have afforded him one of mine on your behalf. :)

    • +1

      Username is legit.

      • -4

        Dont know why neg me

        • The sense of entitlement is real with this one

    • You putting one in the toilet as well?

      • -1

        I got big family

        • Bad grammar, too. :P

  • +1

Had a ready to collect email last night - rocked up at 9:40am this morning and was told there were stock issues but the order would be filled.
Pretty annoyed at the wasted trip - if they can tell me that in store - they can tell me that via email and not waste my time.
    Newcastle, NSW

  • I just walked in to ow now and still got a price match

  • +2

I initially negged this thread and was planning on coming back with the "I told you so comments" but now that a good number of people were successful, I'm going to be really bored today.

Congrats those that scored, I passed because can't really afford to buy right now, even though I could've tried to get a couple to resell, it's just not something I like doing.

Those that got one, this is a steal of a price!

  • +2

Cheers OP! Bought this at Christmas time last year for around $250. Just put in a price protection claim. Hopefully it all goes through! :)

    • which card do you use for price protection, BTW?

      • I get it on my 28 degrees MasterCard, but I believe they no longer offer price protection for new customers.

    • And my claim has just been approved! Glad I was able to get something out of this price error.

  • +3

Well, that was a wasted car trip. Both on the counter ready to collect but cancelled the order due to 'price error'.

    Neg feedback given on ebay.

  • +1

ordered at 8:38am, with $50 store credit, worried as the order werent show up in my order history and seeing many cancellation.
just got another email 10min ago stated my order is being processed, and online order status showing as "BackOrdered"

    • Same now its changed to completed

  • Got the call - game over for me.

  • I received mail from GoodGuys saying:

Thanks for your order, it's now being processed by the warehouse

I have no expectations though that they will honor.

    • Did you buy anything else with your order?

  • +1

i made a order at 7:15am on goodguys website but i wasnt confident so i called OW and waited on the phone until 9:10 and the lady pricematched for me with free delivery. she was super nice. got the confirmation email at 9:30 once the price match team approved it. Thanks OP for posting.

    • +1

That's the way to do it. Well actually the best way would be to buy one from eBay, one for click and collect and another price match attempt (and/or price protection with credit card).

Surely should be able to score one that way?

    • same, but I had to wait 35m on the phone. worth it tho

  • I got my email saying it's ready to pickup at the Alexandria store. Still no other Communication from them. Am I wasting my time going to the store?

    • +1

      Yep

      • Did u already go to that store to Pickup?

        • Nope. Pure speculation.

  • Took a ping at my local JB and they concluded pretty quickly it was an error from TGG and would not match, from what I've seen at OW they're even more strict on price matching so don't think ill bother there

  • Damn so this is what I miss out on after sleeping late from a social drunk zoom meeting…

  • -6

Received a call my order ready to pick up but no confirmation email. Called back and they said they had to cancel as its not enough physical stock. Should have my order delivered instead
Order 6x what a waste of time all night. They would not offer anything to compensate your time

    • +6

tf do you need 6 for?

      • -1

I will gift to my family

      • One for each room.

    • +7

Honestly don’t feel that bad for you if you ordered 6…

    • You ordered 6x?? Let me guess, you have a room filled with toilet papers? sigh

  • +2

TGG should follow what Garmin & Bunnings have done with their price errors = Goodwill generated > badwill earnt

Time to vote with our wallets fellow OzBargainers and shun those that won't honour their pricing

    • +2

If my orders get cancelled, I'm leaving a 1 star review on Google and 1 star on Ebay

      • +4

when they get 10,000 of those negative reviews, hopefully, a bell will sound with management

    • +1

      Goodwill generated > badwill earnt

Absolutely, but isn't that because the badwill from this will be negligible? Who isn't going to shop at TGG because they didn't honour a pricing error…? And who, even if they said that, really wouldn't?

  • +5

Moral of the story, OW are idiots for price matching and TGG are total morons for the pricing error….

  • +1

Store catalogues usually go straight to trash. But everyone will be reading TGG catalogues religiously for potential price errors, for a chance of getting them honoured. Well played TGG marketing ;-)

  • +3

Well, when someone told me they are the good guys, apparently they are not, most of the time they are the bad guys.

  • +1

Can confirm that even in store they won't honor the price and claimed it was a pricing glitch. They offered it for $250. No deal.

  • Do we know what is happening to online orders that were going to be delivered? They will no doubt be cancelled as well but I haven't received any email notification yet. The last I heard from TGG was at 7:01AM when I received an "Your order is being processed email". I've had this from TGG before so don't anticipate this being honoured, particularly given what has happened to all the Click and Collect orders. Interested to hear from anyone who is in the same boat. Have any online orders been cancelled yet?

    • Same here ordered from TGG website and paid for delivery, last communication was "the order is being processed", no cancellation email no phone call yet, let's wait and see…

      • +1

There is no hope that it will get delivered.

        • +3

I'm not expecting it to be delivered. I'm really just wanting to know whether others in the same boat have heard anything. Fully aware that it is most likely a quickly sinking boat and that it isn't even worth trying to bail!

          • +1

@hajonez: I’m in the same boat. Ordered 3 (Two separate orders) via the TGGs website. Last communication is the order is processing.

Not holding out hope but you never know, some orders might slip through

          • @hajonez:

whether others in the same boat

This is the Ruby Princess all over again !!!

      • +1

was over 1,000 orders on ebay alone. someome said cost price is $250 (not sure I believe that) but if we use that, there losing $125 per order, or 125k just for the ebay orders… cancellation incoming.

If it makes you feel better, there gonna lose around 5k in credit card/paypal processing fees.

        • +1

If OW could sell them off so can TGG me think
