  • Bought one from website and one from eBay. Received email for cancellation for the online one with store credit. Still haven't received any information about the eBay order. Ordered both around 1am this morning. Spewing I didnt pull trigger this morning at Officeworks to price match. Would definitely have got one there

  • +2

Got this for exactly $20 delivered: vegetable slicer https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/best-direct-vegitrim-vegetabl… .

  • Picked up an HDMI cable I'd been looking for, with my voucher. Not a bad result.

  • +7

Rang OW at 7am Western time and did a price match over the phone. Got an email at 8.20 saying it was ready to collect, didn't take any chances went past on my way to work and had it in my hands at 8.30. So happy because I was tempted to get one of these the other day at $299 but $122.55 for a hub max is up there as one of my best OzBargains of all time.

  • +1

$109 for the regular Google nest hub. Worth it?

    • +1

      I'm wondering the same thing…

    • +1

Out of the 2 sizes, the regular one suits my needs better. Was only going for the Max coz it was so cheap. With the $20 off, it's actually well priced. Should I put principalities against my needs?

    • Tempting but would prefer to get it down below $100 considering they were 2 for $168 not that long ago!

      • only i need one, so i'm still paying more for something i don't need.

      • might buy a couple next time they cheaps, they make good photo frames better then those cheap ones from harveys etc

      • 2 for $168? When? Where?

    • I find that size (regular) much more suited to bedside tables, nightstands, office desk, etc.

The Max is like a full-size tablet. Though I'd definitely prefer the better speakers, it's just an impractical size for most applications in my home.

I'm currently going through the same decision process.

    • hopefully next version of 7" includes the camera

  • -1

Guys if you got the voucher, please don't give them any profit margin, buy something exactly$20 or close to it.

    • +4

I think it depends! For me I really need vacuum cleaner dustbags, so paid 12.95 in total. It is best to get something I would actually need and use.

I am actually not too fussed about not getting this item. My ideal device would something like a tablet with a really good sound dock. It was only when the price dropped to a certain level I felt this was a good compromise.

    • Dell corded mouse $19.95 delivered

  • +4

Bought Breville Eco Coffee Residue Cleaning pack at $29.95 minus $20 - only $9.95 pickup .. score

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/breville-eco-coffee-residue-c…

    • Looks like the one you bought has 40 capsules. How many do you go through per year?

      • twice or thrice a month roughly .. so just about 24-30 capsules per year, more economical than the 8 capsules for $19

        • Interesting, do you notice a difference using these? I'm looking to spend my $20 credit on something and now that you've mentioned this, I'm questioning if I should be doing this with my Breville? I've had my dual boiler for 2.5 years now and didn't realise this was a product. Thanks for the tip.

          • @klassicklaz: My Breville machine came with a couple when I purchased it. They are meant to clean all the oil buildup and any rancid residue so your coffee taste better. I guess if it's not cleaned over time the build up could damage the machine?

          • @klassicklaz:

I've had my dual boiler for 2.5 years now and didn't realise this was a product

its never raised a 'clean me' request in that time??

        • I normally just run a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water through my Breville - but as I understand it that is more for decalcifying. Do you happen to know if these do anything different?

          • +5

@werdplaya58: i still run the descaling for my breville as well every 3 months for its internal boiler to reduce mineral buildups, while the cleaner tablets are for cleaning up the coffee and oil residue from the shower head compartments.

Even for cleaning it every 2 weeks with the cleaning tablets and breville cleaning filter rubber to the portafilter (the one without holes so it pushed out the water back to the drip), it flushed out brown cream gunks to the drip tray.

One could argue that descaling may clean those shower head but descaling is for every 2/3 months while cleaning tablets are more frequent (even every couple days for heavy use)

            • @elcheapo: Thanks! And gross! Might give these a go with my $20 voucher then.

          • +3

@werdplaya58: There are 2 cleaning processes you should be doing:

A backflush to get rid of oil buildup and stop rancidity setting in - I usually do this every 1-2 weeks. I sometimes run Sunbeam tablets (for my Sunbeam machine) but mostly use Cafiza which is much cheaper.

Second is descaling to get rid of mineral buildup - how often you do this will vary depending on your water but more like a couple of times a year. I had neglected this step in mine and the 3-way valve started to get stuck directing water to the wrong place. All good since giving it a good flush with the Sunbeam descaling solution.

EDIT: Sorry to mostly repeat the post above, it hadn't loaded when I started writing my bit. Glad we're on the same page anyway.

            • @senorclean: Thanks for clarifying. I have had it the other way around, descaling pretty much when I get the Clean Me light and not using the tablets. I thought they achieved much the same thing but sounds like I've been doing it wrong.

              • @werdplaya58: This is what I've also been doing when the Clean Me light turns on. I ended up getting the tablets @elcheapo mentioned. This flopped deal wasn't an entire loss afterall.

        • Thanks, bought the tablets too I was procrastinating this for a while.

Ordered one on the normal site and one on the eBay site. Not heard a peep from either….

    • Same here, was just thinking that.

      • check your promotions folder for the credit. I got an email there way earlier.

However my eBay listing is still pending from what I can see.

        • check your promotions folder

I don't have a promotions folder. How do I get one?

          • @jv: Gmail uses a promotions folder. If you're using a different email, check you junk emails.

    • same

  • I had 3 orders but 1 voucher? I drove to two locations to try and pick it up…

    • +1

You don't need to pick up the voucher, you can just print it.

  • Will Officeworks price match this tomorrow?

    • +2

Can you provide a valid link of the deal you want to pricematch?

    • +1

Price match it with what site? If you mean The Good Guy deal I believe OW staff have been informed not to price match it as it was a pricing error. Plus TGG have changed the price back to $299.

  • +1

Anybody paid using the gift card? Will the refund be issued to the old gift card that I used or will a new gift card be issued?

  • Was so happy to receive an email from them with subject, "Good news! Your order is now ready for pick up". Until I realised it's for the $20 voucher I spent yesterday.

  • -1

Serious question, are they allowed to cancel purchased orders from ebay store? If this was any other merchants, eBay would probably remove them completely.

    • Ebay has been mostly hopeless with other much fraudulent sellers so I doubt they would do anything. At the end of the day, they get their commission from every sale and I haven't seen Ebay to show much ethics.

    • are they allowed to cancel purchased orders from ebay store?

      clearly…as they have.

They also don't list stuff manually, its all done via automation tools hence the replication of the price error across web-site, ebay, advertising.
I'm sure huge sellers have plenty of conditions in their ebay contracts to handle reduced fees, cancellations, price errors etc etc.

      • This is not adding up. As a buyer, if you kept buying stuff and not paying, you have your account banned… How is this any different for a seller?

        • Buyers don't generate revenue for Ebay, sellers do!

  • Anyone had any luck using the voucher? When I use the online store, I can't see anywhere to add it.

Their email says to enter it in the 'pay using Gift Card/eGift Card, Voucher, or Store Credit' section of the payment step when checking out.

I don't see anything titled that, and don't want to enter my credit card number in case it doesn't show up.

    • +3

In the cart you'll see a section with "Pay using a gift card or store credit", see here.

From there, you can enter in the number and PIN to get the credit off the price before proceeding to payment :)

      • +2

Awesome. Thanks so much for that. Their instructions threw me off saying to use it at the payment step, rather than the cart overview.

        Thanks again!

      • can you stack the vouchers?

        • +1

Apparently, assuming you're lucky enough to get multiple (I made two orders and received only one voucher).

        • +1

          Yes, stacked mine last night.

  • just received paypal refund - no email at all from the Good Guys, no explanation at all, no voucher, just a refund.
    poor form.

    • I paid via a gift card so don't know what's happening with my refund. The old gift card that I used shows balance as zero and I haven't received any new gift card. I hate to chase the companies when they screw up. I wish things were more hassle free!

      • same here, paid with gift card but only just see refund from paypal,
have sent an online enquiring yesterday before refund and still yet any update from GG

        • I sent them a message as well and as expected, no response so far. I can't seem to find a number to call them. Only number on the website is for Phones Sales only.

    • Search your inbox for "The Good Guys"

I could see anything at all from til I searched that on my Gmail

Then I found the $20 voucher..

    • got a refund on card plus $5 extea added to PayPal balance

  • +6

Interestingly, I've had 6 PayPal refund receipts come through in the last few hours….

    Edit: make that 7

    • +2

Sooooo annoying. Am getting a refund message every 10 minutes (for the same order). A case of overcompensating TGG's initial lack of communication? :-p

    • +1

      Same.

    • +2

Me too… 6 in a row all within 10 mins of each other.
      So odd.

    • +2

Hmm, my 5 (exact same) refund emails are also spaced exactly 10 minutes apart and are still coming. That's in addition to 3 prior refund emails for the single order..

    • +1

yeah they did this last time too for another price error - i was hoping they would refund me 10X the ammount (coz i got 10 emails).. but nope :(

      • One can dream 😭

    • +1

Lol was about to comment about this. Thought it was one of those bank accidentally sent me 1 million, what do I do moments.

  • I ordered 2 on eBay, one charcoal and one chalk, both in separate orders. They've completely refunded me for the chalk one through PayPal and I received the $20 voucher for it. However, it appears as though they've actually shipped the charcoal one. I got an email saying it got dispatched from the Bundall store. They've also marked it as sent on eBay. Guess I got lucky with this and will actually be receiving one. Cheers OP.

  • Ordered on eBay using AfterPay at checkout, received paypal refund? Umm okay, sure.

6x refund emails, all show payment was refunded to an unknown MasterCard number. WHAT?

Check paypal activity, no refund showing up.

What's going on here exactly, and anyone else have the same issue?

    • +1

I just posted a comment with a similar situation. I can't see any activity at all too. Either good guys are morons and can't refund properly or their security is so bad that whilst refunded, they got hacked and we are getting screwed over more.

      • It's ridiculous

        • I think we need to start posting some of these things on their Facebook page so that they act on it fast otherwise it's just one screw up on top of the other.

    • Same, paid with Afterpay - 6 x PayPal refund emails random MasterCard x5558

      • Weird mine was x6843 so there not even the same.

        • Cheers for that bro. Uber eats for us tonight!

  • So I got the refund email like everyone else but somehow they still somehow manage to screw up the refund as well.

-The refund was first sent to PayPal when I paid with Afterpay
-The PayPal account they sent the refund to was my brothers (granted his Paypal is connected to our eBay account)
-Here's the kicker, the card they claim they refunded on Paypal to is not even any card we own nor linked to either PayPal or Afterpay account.

How can bad can they screw up even as a simple refund. I didn't even get a $20 voucher either.

  • +3

So I got a shipping notification email and a refund and voucher email (ordered from the TGG website and through PayPal). Then AusPost shows up with the item. I don't know what to do now. Maybe they will cancel their refund? I don't know. Or I get to double dip? That would be crazy though - basically a free Google Nest Hub Max and a $20 voucher. Let see what happens.

    • +1

This is getting exciting… Better than the ending of Game Of Thrones. Thanks TGG for the ultimate Thriller~!

    • +2

      Circus music plays

    • +3

They are a pack of incompetent pricks. I believe once a refund has been made by PayPal, that’s that - they can’t somehow claw that money back without consent. Stuff them, double dip, and don’t for a second feel guilty about it. Chalk it up as another price error on their behalf.

Also, screw you for being so lucky. :P

    • +1

I'm in a similar situation as you, item has apparently shipped, except I haven't received a refund (no complaints here of course).

However, if they issued you with a refund, I consider the matter resolved. I don't think there is any mechanism in PayPal for them to dispute their own refund in any case.

Even if there was, I would argue that you and TGG have mutually agreed to assign a new total cost of $0 to the transaction. You were not even offered the refund, so they assumed your agreement to this anyway whether you liked it or not. Why should you now wear any new cost if they want to change their mind or have subsequently discovered errors on their part?

      • I agree. Well they only emailed me about the refund (along with the voucher), but I haven't actually seen it in my PayPal account. But the worst case is I get to keep it for what I paid for ($129 and delivery and ShopBack) and a $20 voucher, can't complain for that.

        • Oh OK, in that case I don't think you will be getting an actual refund (I got the cancellation/voucher email too, which mentioned refund).

I think that is a generic email that they rushed through to appease everyone who purchased the item. Pretty sure they would at least attempt (however poorly) to then verify each order status before issuing individual refunds. Either way the $20 was definitely a bonus we shouldn't have gotten! I've spent mine already.

          • @werdplaya58: Yeh that's fine, at least we got the deal plus a voucher. But then again these guys even managed to screw up the validity date of the voucher so who knows.

      • I have a tracking number (but it's still just "Shipping information approved by Australia Post"). I'm not holding my breath, but it's a possibility that I'll get one.

(ordered through TGG website, paid with Paypal)

        • I’d say a good chance you’ll get it. Did yours get shipped from WA too?

          • @dreamykitten: No idea - I'm in Brisbane, no hints in the tracking yet.

I did get a voicemail from my local store saying it would be cancelled (before I got the tracking number email) which suggests they have some involvement?

  • +1

8 PayPal refund emails and counting

    • I have zero. Can I have some emails :P

      • happy to forward them

    • You bought 8? One for each room in your house including hallways? Hmmmmm

      • You didn't? ;)

    • 8 x $20?

      • If lucky 2x$20

  • +3

Picked mine up from Officeworks today. God I love that place.

  • I got refunded 4 emails hopefully I get one delivered

  • +1

Officeworks is the best. Just picked up from store.

    • +2

just now? how did you secure it today? The price expired yesterday morning.
