  • did you get only one voucher even if you both ordered from tgg's website and eBay?

    • +1

I received two from two separate transactions, both from their website.

      • Doing better than me. I only got one for two website transactions.

  • Whats good to buy for under $20?

    • I'll buy dolce gusto pods I think.

  • Free $20 as well…..

  • The $20 voucher expires May 10 2020 and:

A Store Credit can be used in-store or online and cannot be used on purchases of The Good Guys Home Services installation, Tech services, delivery, Gold Service Extras, gift cards, Netflix, iTunes cards, Apple, AEG, ASKO, Miele, Neff, Falcon or purchases via The Good Guys eBay online store.

Trying to see what’s good to buy.

    • Yes I'm looking for something (anything) for about $20 lol

EDIT - looks like a couple of SD cards for me!

    • Same here, got the credit now have to think about what I can use it towards…

  • +2

    Got my $20 voucher.

Will be reading the comments here to see what I can get for it lol

  • I am not buying this rubbish from the bad guys. 10 days to use the credit on absolutely nothing.

  • +4

Well… Now it's time to find actual bargains on their website.
    Let the Hunt Commence!

  • Any suggestion for what to buy for $20?

  • Got a cancellation and $20 voucher.

  • +2

Thanks Op, managed to grab one at OW with price beat at $124. I ordered 1 on the good guy’s site at 8:15am but I was a bit cautious due to the other comments here so rang up and went to my local OW to get one matched at 8:50am right before TGG pulled the deal from their site. My order from the TGG has now been cancelled and I was given a $20 voucher no minimum spend.

I saw 5 other Max’s waiting to be collected at the Alexandria store hope the others got it.

    • They wouldn't give me mine at Alexandria. I did get the $20 voucher emailed to me for my troubles though…

  • +3

Love how they dont need to honour their word (to sell a google nest hub max after accepting my money) because some douche inserted one of many get-out-of-jail cards in the contract conditions.

Mistake or not, just play the contract clause. Suck it up mofos. Grrr.. much dislike…

  • +2

Received the latest email in HUGE fonts claming "As per the Terms & Conditions on our website, we will not be progressing with your order." which literally telling me in-my-face that I got nothing on them.

Though, they say in the email that they are giving a $20 store credit is valid from Friday 1st May until Sunday 10th May 2020, but on the store credit voucher, it has a start date of 03-09-2020 and end date of 10-05-2020. I am confused now that the voucher valids from 3rd September 2020 and ending 10th May 2020?!?! Or is it another unintentional error that they are experiencing??

    • Same here

      • Mine starts 25-10-2020 and ends 10-05-2020. If I don't find anything worth using it on now then I'll keep it and see what's available on 25 October 2020…

    • This company is hopeless. What are the odds we find another deal to use this voucher on and it turns out to be another "pricing error". I will not be shopping with them no more.

    • Hahaha.

Funny that they managed to get the price wrong in 3 separate sources.
Funnier that they also managed to get the dates wrong on the coupon.

Though not so funny if they get your refund amount wrong.
(However funniest if they refund you more than your original amount.)

      • Refund should be a simple reverse mechanism, so I doubt the refund amount is going to be wrong, unless it is manual, but come on no way that it is.

        • +1

They fck up the pricing, then screw up the store credit (start&expiry) I won't be surprised if they fck up the refund as well! Three times lucky!

  • Well I got my cancelation emails and $120 store credit

    • +1

What? $120 store credit? Typo perhaps?

      • i assume 6 orders/accounts used, so $20 each

      • No, that means he maybe ordered 6 of them.

        • Yes I tryed to cover all bases to get one but got it at ow

  • Received the cancellation email with $20 voucher. No minimum spend required. Valid between 1 to 10 May 2020

    • yep lol:

      "Start Date: 08-02-2022
      End Date: 10-05-2020"

    • +1

My start date for the $20 voucher is 27-10-2023 and end date is also 10-05-2020. Can they get anything right?

      • Its sad, and it doesnt get any sadder than that, its basically a joke to them.

        • +1

I think they are giving proof that their marketing team are genuinely incompetent, therefore the price error is a genuine mistake ;-)

          • @Buy2Much: I just looked up the team and found a bunch of them on LinkedIn. Looks like the General Manager of Marketing Services named Kim S. but not sure if she is accountable for this.

        • +1

It's even more infuriating that they've cancelled it, but there's no mention of a refund or cancellation in PayPal. Grrrr!

          • @Graffin: I would initiate a claim on Amex first. I always do that once these things arise.

            • -1

@ISO9002: Unfortunately, no American Express. Paid with PayPal which uses my CommBank VISA to fund it.

Called the store where I was meant to collect the item from and they said there’s nothing they can do and to just wait and I should get a refund in 2-5 business days (which is how long it takes to go back onto my VISA, but the PayPal transaction should show that it’s been cancelled/refunded which it doesn’t show).

I want my $124 back. If they wouldn’t honour their mistake then damn well give me my money back without having to make me wait or chase it up and wait some more.

They can stick their $20 voucher!

              • @Graffin: Had more helpful info today (thanks for the - vote).

Apparently head office have 450+ refunds to issue so it may take 2-5 days for anyone that paid via PayPal to see the refund there and then another 2-5 days for it to go back to the account it was funded from.

A $20 voucher is a nice gesture, but having to wait and see if the refund will actually appear is still annoying. I guess it’s my fault for thinking this deal was real (with all the printed material and with it being on eBay and on their website). I guess if something is too good/cheap to be true, it is.

Here’s hoping the refund comes through!

  • +3

Let's hope they're going to send us another voucher for giving us a voucher with an invalid start date.

    • True, for giving voucher, theres no T&C constraints.

  • I have yet to get even a cancellation e-mail…

    • Same here. I think they arent being bothered to even issue the cancellation. Its only another day at the office for them.

This would be what you can buy: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/sony-in-ear-mdre9lpp-pink-hea…
Add in $30 for Concierge Service and with the $20 store credit comes to $20. The benefit is you get 3 x $20 per year for 3 years.

    • How do these 3 x $20 store credits work?

      • Do these store credits expire so you can't combine them together? e.g. save $60 a year off a single product?
      • Can you stack them (e.g. combine $20 store credits from two separate accounts?)
      • think you can get a max of 9 credit per year. Here's the link: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/concierge-gold-service-extras

      • +1

just saw a previous Ozbargain post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/397564)

Seems quite restrictive - can't combine with multiple $20 store credits, and they expire after 5 days. This was back in 2018.

        3.2 Concierge Store Credits

For each twelve months from the date of Your purchase, a $20 Concierge Store Credit for The Good Guys will be sent to You three times each year until Your Concierge Gold Service Extras expires. You can receive Your store credit via SMS or email, to a valid mobile number or email address provided to Concierge. The method of receiving store credits may change from time to time and will be at the discretion of The Good Guys.

Your $20 Concierge Store Credit can be redeemed either online or at any of The Good Guys stores across Australia, by the expiry date specified in the SMS or email. For customers who purchase multiple Gold Service Extras, a maximum of nine $20 Concierge Store Credit will be issued in any 12 month period from date of purchase. No additional store credit entitlement is earned for holding four or more Concierge Gold Service Extras at any one time.

You must opt in to receive Concierge communications in order to receive store credits. If You do not opt in, or later choose to opt out of receiving communications from Concierge, You will forfeit Your entitlement to store credits that would otherwise have been sent to You during the period You have chosen not to receive Concierge communications .

Each store credit will have a dated period of validity, generally five days. $20 Concierge Store Credit can only be used on the ticket price of products, no further discounts apply. Each store credit is unique and can only be redeemed once. $20 Concierge Store Credit offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other store credit offers.

Store credits cannot be exchanged for cash. Store credits cannot be used to purchase gift cards, epay and iTunes cards and excludes Apple, AEG, ASKO, Miele, Neff, Bertazzoni, La Germania, Falcon and other agency brands.

The Terms and Conditions of Concierge $20 Concierge Store Credits are subject to change without notice; including individual outlets where the credits can be redeemed and whether a minimum spend is required before their use.

        • I've been using it to stock up on rechargeable batteries if that helps. Brings the price of AA down to $1.95 if that helps or you can always sell the codes in the classified.

      • +1

I find the Concierge vouchers next to useless unless there is a sale on something you need at that same time. They encourage people to rush spending at their stores for the sake of using the credits. From their own FAQS:

Concierge $20 Store Credits typically have a five-day expiry – so you need to shop fast when you receive them

  • I just used the store credit online, works right now…

  • +8

I'm happy to accept unwanted $20 credit vouchers.

If I get 15 I can purchase a nest hub max and will donate $1 change.

    • 'Like your thinking, eagerly waiting for the next price error.

  • Got the same email and $20 voucher.

  • +1

    Hmmm… Is $129 - $20 = $109 a good deal for a Google Nest Hub (Regular Size)?

    • no, If I would've bought an alexa show 5 with that price.

  • I ordered quite soon at midnight while understanding this might be an error price.
This early morning, I read about the practice of some members utilizing the benefit of 'price beat' from Officeworks. Coincidentally, I had passed by Officeworks in Milton, Brisbane. But then I thought if the GG was so generous with this deal, I preferred to supporting them.

    But… haizz

    • They were the bad guys in the past, so why should we sure they are the good guys now :D

    • +1

Don’t get your undies too knotted, I was knocked back at Milton barely after 8am. Supposedly all the stock had been “reserved”… all 11 of them.

      • LOL =))
Thanks for letting me know. My $20 voucher is much sweeter now

  • We need to leave some negative review on their ebay store to warn other potential buyers!

  • +1

use my 20$ credit to buy something less than 20$ in the store including postage. its a freebie. cannot say no.choose a 5 metre ext lead. of which is going to be a good addition to the CTEK charger i bought in REPCO tru oz bargain few days ago. Ty OP.

  • Next time knowing Good Guys wouldn't honour the deal, I would just continue purchasing the product until they remove the product, then go and buy something I actually want with the $20 vouchers.

    • Can't even buy apple.

  • +1

Also can we use the vouchers for Good guys commercial?

  • +2

Man, I purchased mine at 8:30AM this morning, just to the email 15 minutes ago.
Now I see a bunch of sellers listing them on eBay for almost full retail price, that sh*# me to tears.
People who actually want one, now dont get it and you have these bloody leeches who have a dozen of them and trying to make profit.

Now to purchase something with the $20. TGG have taken the MAX off their website too which is a bummer

    • Thats what most of the OzBargainers are here for !

  • I used the $20 store credit to buy coffee capsules. Probably the best bet right now.

  • Oh I bought vacuum cleaner dustbags with the $20 voucher, I am actually down to my last bag as well so good timing :D

This is my first time dealing with the good guys ever, can't say I am impressed. Next time I would not bother with them. I have never find them the cheapest for the stuff I want to buy, and it seems they have long track record of pricing errors.

  • Can anyone discern any difference between these two products on TGG's website?… they seem like they might be the same.

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lenovo-smart-display---10-inc…

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lenovo-smart-display-10-hd-wi…

    • Different products with different item numbers, one appears to be HD while the other isnt

      • I thought that at first too… but I'm not sure.

I can't find any reference to a non-HD one anywhere… my understanding is/was that there is only one Lenovo Smart Display 10".

  • +8

I understand that sometimes genuine pricing errors happen. However, I am interested to know how they can justify this being an error when it has been advertised in at least three different places (ebay, website, catalogue), each of which would have been reviewed by a human prior to release. I doubt most reasonable people could believe this was a genuine error based on the available evidence.

Btw I didn't buy one. Just interested.

    • +1

The max was the mistake, the price was probably for the normal hub

    • +1

Almost seems like a tactic to get you to spend using the voucher which has a short expiry date.

    • +1

because its all somewhat automated off the same database of pricing/upcoming sales pricing.
There was likely a stuff up entering the item into some 'sale start on x' database, which populated the live prices this morning.

Their website would pull the price from the sku out of a database
Their ebay portal/tools would do the same
And the advertising would be pulling its numbers from the same thing. The guys in the graphics department pretty up pictures wouldn't know what things are worth, they just get a value given to them/returned from a list and use it in advertising material with a 'go live' date.

A company the size of GG (and JB) doesnt do all their pricing by hand in a spreadsheet etc.

  • +2

Why is it that stores such as TGG are allowed to continue selling on eBay when they have a significantly high transaction defect rate? It appears as if they cancel hundreds of orders every week given their feedback. Normal sellers get shunned for a few defects where as companies that carelessly break the rules are given a free pass. Dislike dislike dislike.

    • +2

Don't neg the OP because it's not his fault that TGG doesn't honour their deals, Free $20 though.

      • +2

My bad, you're right, I should not associate a neg with OP.

The $20 voucher is a nice gesture however it still baffles me that these big companies can get away with such a horrid record time and time again.

  • Interestingly after I got the refund and voucher email, AusPost emailed me saying they have the package and included a tracking number. Very interesting to see how this goes.

    • Did you order through eBay or good guys store?

      • +1

The TGG website with delivery. Got the initial confirmation email then the shipping notification email then the refund email, then now AusPost says they have a tracking number.

        • +1

They may have created a shipping label then cancelled it. Will be interested to see if it gets delivered. I ordered through the store for delivery as well. No shipping email here. Just the initial email, then cancellation email.

  • I didnt get a mention of a $20 dollar voucher when TGG called to cancel order. Is that only if you kick off?

    • only if you ordered online for delivery

      • Yes that is what I did
Just an 2 emails saying- confirmed your order and we are processing your order.

Basically to get it you had to be in TGG or OW by 10am

        • +1

TGG never called me to cancel the order. They jsut sent a cancellation email which included the voucher.

  • Office works has popup on the registers saying do not price match TGG…no luck…

    • Wht abt price matched and waiting for pickup orders from Officeworks? I went to store this morning no stock so they back ordered
