I have about 5k worth of Telstra shares which I had not kept abreast of. I have had to write to the share company identifying myself, as address and email details on system have changed from when I originally bought them and I don't know account numbers. I received a txt from centrelink giving me a fast approaching deadline date for intention to claim. What can I do if I have not received a statement of holding by then please? This will affect both my jobseeker and my husband's jobkeeper claim. Will a statement from me suffice with Centrelink?

To make a statement do you mean?
To get them to troubleshoot the issue for you.
From what you've written, you received an automated text from Centrelink. Therefore you either need to respond with the statement or manually delay it. So you need to let them know.
I don't have personal experience with this but based on what I'm told, the lines are flooded and the actual centres are processing most of the issues. So to update them to your situation and to make sure they actually have correct information for you, I recomended you to go to the Centrelink people and explain the situation.
A statement might work but probably not from you but I don't work in this area so take that with a grain of salt.
What happens at dividend time?
Cha-ching!
It is credited to my account

How do I access or update my shareholder information online?
Shareholders can easily manage their shareholding online at www.linkmarketservices.com.au/telstra. Shareholders require their SRN or HIN and postcode for access and then can view and update information under the following menus:
Holdings – for transaction history, holding balance, holding value and the latest closing share price.
Payment and Tax – for dividend payment history, tax information, payment instructions and TFN details. Individual shareholders can update their bank details under this menu. Joint and/or Company shareholders are required to download, print and sign the direct credit form located under this menu option and return the form to the share registry.
Communication – to update postal and email addresses and become an e-Shareholder. You can also change communication options here - for example elect to receive all communications electronically, or hard copy dividend statements and electronic for all other communications. Please note, shareholders who are broker/CHESS sponsored must contact their sponsoring broker to change their address. Joint and/or Company shareholders are required to download, print and sign the change of address form located under this menu option and return the form to the share registry.
I don't know the SRN or HIN unfortunately, which is why they have asked me to write to them with as much identification as possible
It is on your dividend notice which you have received twice a year since you held them.
Simply follow advice from Frugal Rock
not receiving mail or email- yes I will follow FR's advice
Are you not able to log in online to the share registry and download a statement?
I don't know the SRN or HIN
The OP has screwed up by throwing out all documents relating to his/her share holding. Now needs to scramble to provide proof to Centrelink.
Must be good to have so much money you don't care about $5k worth of shares.
as a temporary measure show your bank statement with dividend payment, should have some identifier with it, call your bank, while you sort this out. Ifyou click on the deposit it may expand to reveal more info
You should be able to get the div details inc franking credits by logging into My Gov and use the prefilling details or last years return.
when I originally bought them
If purchased via a stockbroker, contact them
This will affect both my jobseeker and my husband's jobkeeper claim
Not relevant to JobKeeper
Go to Centrelink office to do this. It's faster.
A mate who works as a security guard at the Centrelink office told me that phones aren't reliable and have long wait times. That's if you actually get a hold of someone.
Worst case scenario, gift it to me ;). Problem solved.
