  • Those clinics might be closed by the time you can get physically be there. Might as well start looking later.

That should help with the dating site hookups…

    • Labiaplasty is needed because of friction with clothing.

Breast reduction is needed for back pain.

Rhinoplasty is optional in our case

i heard north korea is quite successful at surgeries

    • One could argue the recent high profile case is a phenomenal success.

It's like gambling or the share market.

No one tells you the catastrophes. They only speak of the success stories and their street smarts that saved them $$$.

Korea isn't bad but you need to be very knowledgeable on who to go to. There is already a major industry for cosmetic tourism and the operators that cater to the middle income tourist are the worst. No reason to do a good job as there is no legal recourse and no word of mouth fallout. The high end surgeons there cost as much as it does locally but I'll concede that they are probably more experienced.

We recently had a case of botched dental (somebody can link the thread) work and the cost to remedy to a minimum acceptable condition was poorly received. If cost is even remotely a consideration, you cannot afford the (very) elective surgery. Complications locally will be eye watering. Complications overseas could be life shattering… or ending.

People have lost their life for less. Not to blame the poor chum, I've done stupid things in the past as well.

      • Very sad but he has only himself to blame as, as unfortunate as it is.

Everyone knows how to prevent these outcomes but many are willing to go through mental acrobatics to save a few bucks they never needed to spend, or in the case of the slug eater, do things they never needed to do.

I'm going to assume you've seen the potential health complications of breast reduction and rhinoplasty. The issue with Rhinoplasty and Breast Reduction is General Anaesthesia. Would you trust the foreign anesthetist to keep you life to save a few thousand dollars? And for whom you're their next commodity? If it is, go to the major hospitals and do due diligence with reviews.

I'm sure if it's indicated for back pain, your GP would make a referral to the public health system. Given how our frontline health professionals have performed, I'd trust them with most of my health issues.

Labiaplasty - try different clothes or baby powder. Or go Commando like Steve.

    Last part is a joke.

    • Depends on what OP means by rhinoplasty. If they are thinking of changing the entire appearance and isn't something small like correcting a septum, the range of complications are much wider such as a collapsed cartilage.

Breast reduction, well, death being the worst but unlikely, the likely outcomes are infection, scarring, and depending on the skill of the surgeon, unsightly access and uneven removal and repositioning.

Superficial soft tissue augmentation isn't too big a problem.

  • I think with some of those procedures, it's BYO theodolite and compass.

Expat forums are probably the best spot to get this information. If you're using the local clinics that the local elite use then it should be reasonably safe. I would steer clear of any tourist medical practices though.

Labiaplasty is needed because of friction with clothing.

I knew a guy who had a similar problem with friction.

You see, he was on the lookout for a new suit for a job interview. He found one that was ideal but it was too expensive. The shop assistant informed him that it will soon be discounted by half, but another shopper for the same item also found out. How would he ensure that he got the discounted suit instead of the other shopper? Well, what this sneaky individual did was to hide the suit on the wrong rack before the sale had begun so that the other shopper wouldn't spot it. Come the day of the discount, his little trick worked and he bought his desired suit at half-price, but he bought more than he bargained for when the other shopper swore that he would somehow pay for his trickery!

After his purchase of the suit, he gleefully modeled it for his friends. He was laughing and snapping his fingers, but his friends heard something while he was prancing around. The trousers made a whooshing sound when he walked due to the friction from his thighs! This caused him much distress as he thought it would surely cost him the job. Luckily, the interviewer thought it was amusing and was poised to hire him anyway. They went out for a snack to celebrate his hiring and he was offered a piece of cake, which he was assured was delicious. As he was about to accept it, he noticed, out of the corner of his eye, the same guy who had tried to buy his suit from the other day. He was in the kitchen and appeared to be the chef who prepared the cake. Fearing a poisoned treat, he rejected the cake. The interviewer insisted that he take a bite, but he still refused.

As it turned out, he was rejected for the job, but he was the only one at the table who didn't get violently ill. Good times.

  • I just spat out my coffee at the first line…On a more serious note, if indeed this is a serious post, my first stop would be the approved clinics via Australian health funds. Even if you don't have private health insurance, you can access their lists. Once you have some health fund approved providers, you could then google them and look for feedback.
