For those interested, this is being re-released on Switch and PS4 next month (the PS4 version has been delayed a few weeks).

No doubt it will cost more than $5, but I personally will be buying it on Switch regardless of price as I used to love this game.

    • Awesome thank you! Always enjoyed it more than number 2 (which is already on PS4 as a PS2 game BC).

Lysander for PM when this lockdown is over.

Dude, you've been so on the ball with all of these freebies and deals - love your work!

    What is the normal price?

  • [PC] Origin - Star Wars Episode 1: Tacer - $5.24 AUD - Origin

    Or 'Racer' even.

Cheers for the post though. I loved the demo for this game back in the day. $5.24 is an easy decision.

  • This is the same one from ~20 years ago?
I remember it was fun when originally released, wondering how it holds up now though.

Even in its day it wasn't that great. Most people back then were just wowed by 3d acceleration, so actual gameplay was often overlooked.

I don't think this is the case personally. Most modern fast racers don't have the same amount of shortcuts and discoveries this game had and the mechanics are just as good as modern racers such as Fast RMX imo.

      • Beg to differ.

I played the hell out of this on the N64 back in the day.

The sense of speed, the narrow, claustrophobic tracks that were full of razor-close near-misses with obstacles and had a lot of well-hidden secret detours, and the frequent airborne segments with vertically-layered tracks, made it unlike any other racer of the period and I don't think I've played an arcade racer like it since. Plus the single player campaign and customisation options gave it a lot of replay value.

It's definitely one of those Star Wars titles from the golden era of LucasArts, like Rogue Squadron and the Jedi Knight series.

It's good, Racer Revenge is available upscaled on PS4 too if you've got an itch to yell that what you're doing is in fact pod racing.

  • Laugh it up PC users, I'm still waiting for the Switch release to pay probably 3 times this price in a couple weeks! Wait.

  • Used to play this down at Penrith Panthers back in the day.

  • Great game. A nice reboot of the N64 original with some prettier visuals and smoother gameplay but the control scheme leaves a lot to be desired, especially when using keyboard/mouse.

I've found a joystick works a little better but you really want a gamepad for this sort of racer.

  • this game needs a remake :)
