AKAI Air Conditioners

Anyone had any experience with them?

  • if you really can't afford with good brand such as fujitsu, panasonic, mitsubishi, then this is ur last option, for me better paying more, but you got longer warranty and u know u safe ur money as well rather than save 300-400 but u paying more on electric and lucky if the air cond still working normal on the second year

  • My experience with one, not very cold, louver broken, noisy etc. its over 4 years old, but it was never great anyway. It does a good job of making my room cold in winter! :)

I'm really stingy, but air conditioning is like a drug in summer, its worth buying a decent unit so it works properly in summer. I've had good experiences with Fujitsu.

  • a friend had them in north brisbane. not good. similar experience to samfisher5986.
spend a little more. if you sell your place then quality AC would be more attractive to buyers.
I haven't heard of a fujitsu breaking down yet so that's where I would look.

  • I thought akai went out of business a while ago!

    • I don't think so unless there is a backlog of stock. Was at Bunnings a couple months ago and they had heaps of Akai Air-conditioners for sale.

  • Thanks guys…looks like I won't get one. We can't afford a Pana or a Fujitsu but I've found a 7kW Kelvinator for a couple of hundred bucks more than the Akai. It was between the Kelvinator and the Samsung and from my research, it looks like they're pretty even.

Might try to see if anyone is keen for a group buy.

  • try this place.- http://www.aircondiscounters.com.au

they had a FUJITSU-ASTA24LFC-7.1kw-Reverse-Cycle-Inverter-Split-System for an excellent price about 6 months ago. they are in Nth Brisbane thoough. but still a good reference point

    • Had a look at the site and there's no products on there nor any contact details apart from a postal address.

Checked their parent site, http://www.electricdeals.com.au and the prices seem pretty standard.

      • sorry, yeah, it was a site I book marked 6 months ago for future reference. the fujitsu deal that was the cheapest I'd seen. though was gone when I checked yesterday but didn't serach further on the site.

  • just a tips, buy during winter, cheap for installation and most of the installer charge you cheaper compare than summer time. and some ac give you cash back, when i bought my fujitsu, it was 1000, but i got cash back 250, so in total only 750

  • I'm getting a new MHI or Panasonic installed soon, so if y'all could choose Akai to reduce supply pressures on the more expensive brands, that'd be awesome. TIA :)

  • Any thoughts on a Euromativ Air Cond please? regards Phil.
