This is only the Bluetooth version. The Kogan LTE model (Aus Stock) $449 is much better value in my opinion considering the price difference is normally $200 between the two models in RRP.
Cool. Might check that. What are the advantages of the Lte version over the bluetooth? Your views?
The watch is best with cellular(LTE). You can be away from your phone or out of range for BT or WIFI and it will still get your calls, messages and internet access. You'd be surprised how often this may happen given BT is relatively weak in signal strength.
Real sim card or e-sim? Also, can you connect this to the same phone number? Is there an additional monthly charge? How does it affect battery life?
@RubenM: e-sim. Only works with Telstra, Optus and Voda. Yes, there will usually be a monthly charge, $10 a month with Optus. Will obviously affect battery life.
@nomadspartan: Thanks!
@nomadspartan: Interesting. What if you’re on prepaid like 365 days with boost or Kogan? Still extra for e-sim?
@MuddyClear: LTE functionality is only supported by Telstra, Optus and Voda at this stage. Won't work on other carriers at all.
@nomadspartan: It's $5 per month for all three major carriers when paired with your plan:

@bchliu: Looks like you need to be on post paid as well.
@RubenM: This watch only supports eSIM. Physical SIM smartwatches are very rare and few from the major brands (LG and Huawei did a few models).
I've got the original Samsung Gear S and the LG Urbane 2 LTE with the SIM slots and was using the TPG $1 plan with it.. worked pretty well but its getting on a bit. Honestly, having Cellular on the watch just makes it so much better to be always connected and contactable as long as you are wearing it.
Nice one. Link for anyone interested:

I got my galaxy active 2 Bluetooth last year. Good for fitness tracking, fast and zippy. It's a nice fitness watch as long as you don't intend to install other apps.
i think the bluetooth version with aluminium body pairs with both iOS and android, but the LTE version (stainless steel) pairs only with android.
thanks for the link.
What's the battery life like on the LTE version? I've read reviews they last only 8 hours or less?
what does LTE even mean?
LTE is what phones have that allow them to connect to Sim Cards , digital or Physical , basically gives you Internet Connection and Calls if you connect a sim to it :)
ok, but under what situations will the speed increase of LTE (compared to bluetooth/wifi) be useful on a smart watch?
@MuddyClear: The idea is - leave phone at home , have your watch be independent - GPS , Internet for Songs, Calls - all from your wrist.
Its called ACTIVE with the intentions of it being used for sports.
Crazy concept, I know.
@The Milk Man: the bluetooth version already does that. it makes an e-sim card of your phone, so you can leave your phone at home.
@MuddyClear: No it doesn't. You can leave the phone at home for a run around the block and you won't get any Internet or phone access on a Bluetooth watch whilst you are away from the phone.
@MuddyClear: If what you said was a thing - why would they make the LTE Version?…
Perhaps you should pitch your ideas to Sasmsung >_>
@The Milk Man: i meant that's what the LTE version does. Sorry for the confusion.
@MuddyClear: …thats what I originally said tho
confusing.
@The Milk Man: i know…i know.
@MuddyClear: What's with this incredibly low level argument.
@nomadspartan: I know…I know.
@MuddyClear: Blame it on Sarcasm.. because everyone else is when they were told to drink bleach. Lol
That's the smaller model with smaller battery and screen FYI.
If any one is interested Officeworks will price match with free delivery, just got one at $379…. Thanks Op
Me too - Thanks @Fitzy90
Any idea when the BP monitor app will be available for the Australian market? That will be a game-changer.
If anyone gives a rats - the Active 1 is essentially the same device and is way cheaper.
Unless you want LTE
This is the bluetooth edition.
More sensors, speaker for calls, bigger screen. Not the same really.
At double the price is it really worth those things? The rest of it is the same, which is essentially 99% of it.
I mean my gear S2 does 99% of the active, so why pay more than double? To be honest, having a speaker and the ability to take calls from my watch, along with a bigger screen is worth it yes. If you don't like using smart watch features I can understand why you might want to buy older watches to save some dollars.
For anyone interested, I purchased the GWA2 around 5 weeks ago. It has been great in battery life, suits all my needs and the speaker and microphone for calls have been very clear and connects well. I have had any issues with it and very happy with my purchase. I did buy a case for it from eBay as I read it scratches easily but that hasn't bothered me.
Thanks for the info.
