To renew my NRMA Third Party Property Damage policy will cost nearly $200.
I am thinking it may be worth my while to pay +/-$150 over and above this to insure against loss, because I would need to pay for a replacement vehicle, money I would find hard to raise just now (loss of work etc.).
I went to Compare the Market. The cheapest quote was from Budget Direct at $325. Others under $350 were ING, Virgin Money and Australia Post, all with an excess of $850.
I can't see that any of these state an agreed value.
NRMA quote about $405 but with an agreed value of $4250, same excess.
If I don't know what the payout would be in the event of loss I can't evaluate whether to do this.
Any thoughts, experiences or recommendations about companies to try would be appreciated.

Sounds pretty cheap. Remember they're covering you if you rear end a lamborghini…

For comprehensive this is very low. I guess you're only getting a couple of grand payout for that but literally any accident/repair will cost you more than that.
I pay over $1400 to insure my $25k euro vehicle…
Did you get a quote from Bingle.? They are the cheapest for us - 3 cars with them. Had a couple of claims with them and all went well.
Read first comment thread, some woolworths codes also still work even though marked as expired

yep my nrma just bumped up $300, they are bloody idiots.
i looked at woolworths and got good quote, and you can use the 10% off groceries once every month, so just do a big shop every month and for me it pays the insurance off.
