Recently I was contacted by the staff from askable.com for the research of online retail industry. After accepting their invitation and read about what the site is doing for(they are actually connect the researchers who want to do research on a specific topic and the participants), I notice there are increasing people wanting to know about the online retail industry. Indeed, online retail market has been increasing in the past years and is standing out during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Platforms like eBay, Catch, Kogan, Amazon, even Mydeal are booming. Catch, started from a daily deal website, was sold to Wesfarmers for 290 million. Kogan was original selling the electronic stuff and now is becoming a mega store. These channels are starting operating their market place and both are doing well at the moment. The platforms now are burning their money to fight for the market share, sellers on these channels are making more money and I can see the trends will last for next 5-10 years.
I think medium and small business owner should start considering to sell their products on these online market place if possible in order to survive in the crises. I have been working as a analyst programmer in the online sale industry for 8 years and witness some online retail companies are increasing every year. I worked for OZPlaza and developed their in-house system when it was not so big and now it become the 3rd online retail company in VIC. I am still keeping close connect with OZplaza and working in the industry and I am familiar with the operation and data integration for all the platforms mentioned above.
Ask me anything if you are interested in the industry and want to know more about that, I am happy to answer your question and we can discuss more here.
