Hey guys, I've managed to score a free 16-port switch with the caveat of having no power adapter. On the switch itself, the label says it takes an input voltage of 12V 1.08A DC. I've not been able to find any universal power adapter with a specific current of 1.08A. If I just get a generic 12v universal adapter, is it safe to assume the device will only draw as much current as it needs?

That would be the max current use.
Go and see Jaycar. So long as the current is more than 1.08A, it'll be fine. The unit will only draw what it requires. A 1.5A or 2A will be suitable.
Thanks heaps for the confirmation everyone! Was finding heaps of results for adapters that have adjustable voltage but none with adjustable current, guess I now know that only current is self adjusting in devices.
Correct - you'll need an adapter that supplies 1.08A or higher at 12V. Also make sure that the polarity is the right way around.
