Insurance for Contractor Courier

I am hoping to get a bit of guidance from the Ozbargain community.

So I have recently started to use my car to do courier deliveries as a contractor.

I am currently only insured for personal use on my car. I have been looking today at changing this to personal + business use however no insurers will insure for couriers!

Well, there is one, Youi and instead of paying $90 per month it will be $286!!

So my questions:

  • Do you know any other insurers that would cover my car for both personal and business use?
  • Do I really need to make this change is the use is 30% business and 70% personal?

Not gonna waste too much time on this and if I need to pay $286…

      I appreciate your answer, but sorry, I struggle to understand the logic of your response. You either know an insurer who covers courier businesses or you don’t.

      But if that helps you (and me) here is the list of the one I tried:

      • Woolies
      • CGU
      • PD
      • NRMA
      • AAMI
      • BUDGET
      • BINGLE
      • BUPA

      All have the same answers, do not cover couriers

      You wouldn’t believe it, but I actually tried this! I know right…impressive

      But if you actually look at the results you will find nothing but standard insurances that won’t cover or public liability insurance…

    Sign up with carnextdoor. They provide insurance,if it covers complete strangers driving your car, may cover you doing deliveries.

    Ask the company you are working for and fellow couriers at that company?

      Yeah Youi does it.

      The car is worth $10,000, the insurance premium they want is $3500…. may as well not insure it
